We had the good fortune of connecting with Patty Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patty, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process of starting my own business was the idea of getting to work for myself. Especially doing spiritual work. Helping others find their path in life is very rewarding. Hearing the client’s feedback after I have seen them for a Tarot reading and spiritual guidance. Brings me joy in doing work that I do. Other than working for myself. One of the most important decisions that have contributed to my success is discipline. Being a discipline, showing up on time with a positive attitude has helped me become successful. I find it is easy to achieve your goals if you enjoy what you do!

What should our readers know about your business?
My physical shop, Botanica Michoacan located in Simi Valley, CA, is a spiritual place where people can find new age items such as candles, incense, oils, handmade soaps, protection bracelets, good luck charms, stones and crystals, natural herbal baths salts, and of course tarot readings. I make the spells, soap, and most of the candles myself. What really makes me excited is to see how people from different ages, especially the new generation are really interested in learning about all this new age magic. For me, it has been effortless to work in this field, and I feel very connected with it so it comes naturally to me. I am happy to announce the expansion of my online brand, www.getwitchin.com So excited to introduce mystical spell kits and other fun products, that I have been developing to feature on my online store. Will be adding many products for my distant clients to have easy access to my magic. Also, will be offering many crystals, jewelry, apparel, and home goods. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends visit, I always enjoy taking them for a drive on PCH. I love the view and where better to be, then on the beach and enjoying the sounds of the ocean.  There are also so many great places to grab lunch.  If time permits, horseback riding with Malibu Riders would be a fun thing to do. They have friendly knowledgeable guides and take you on some fantastic scenic trails.  Dinner can be yummy at one of my two local favorite restaurants here in Simi Valley, Love Sushi, or Olivio’s, a beautiful Italian restaurant run by a great family.  

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My sisters were a big moral support in starting my business, my dad was and has always been my biggest inspiration to get up every morning and get going he was a hard-working man that never gave up until the day he died, I’m very thankful for all the teachings that he left us. Without the support of my family. I wouldn’t be where I am today.
