Meet Petecia Le Fawnhawk | Artist and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Petecia Le Fawnhawk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Petecia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, initially when working as a Creative Director for brands… I was working long hours on a demanding schedule that never relented. One day meditating I sat with my 80 year self and she told me I needed to get up from behind that desk and run and leap and do back flips in fields of flowers… essentially live life to its fullest and greatness. I took her advice and left the corporate life for freelance before embarking the wild and wonderful journey of committing myself to my artistic voice and vision and craft it into a sustainable livelihood and thriving business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art began as an exploration of my inner landscape and a journey on expressing my discoveries through various projects, mediums, collaborations, and experiments. The farther I venture, the more I discover about the world and myself. It’s been a grand experiment with ups and downs. The natural cadence of creation. When doubt and self sabotage rears its 7 heads, I stand steadfast, ready for my fall or ascension…every day, going to battle with the self in the name art… hoping to end it with a slow dance and a belly laugh. The biggest lessons I’ve learned are: Get out of your own way, your best is enough, this too shall pass, and you’ll never regret pushing through discomfort.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved back to Arizona so I’m a tourist in my own town again. But I would recommend the White Sand Dunes, Sororo National Park, Arcosanti, Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Civana Resort in Cavecreek, and the absolute best Italian in all of America is Andriolis in a low key location in Scottsdale.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I first want to shout out to my mother who worked many a humble job to get me to LA and into college. I then thank my then boyfriend, James McCusker, who joined me from our small town to shoulder our way through Los Angeles and together found our footing in adulthood. He always supported and believed in me and I’m happy to report we remained very good friends. I thank Greg Alterman who hired me in my young and wild days… who challenged me in a professional sense and trusted me with his creative side of the business. I thank my long-time collaborator and best friend, Eliot Lee Hazel. Who has nurtured my aethetic explorations in all capacities and teaches me to live life like a good cup of tea. Finally thank you to my husband and soul mate, Mark Maggiori. Who challenges me in every sense of the word and pushes me to always be my best and to always break free of my comfort zone.
