We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenixx Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phoenixx, how do you think about risk?
I think risk are like Russian roulette, exciting, but possibly consequential. I think people think risk takers go out and make frivolous decisions, which is quite the opposite. Dreamer is a synonym to risked taker in my eyes. Chasing a dream like rapping is a risk that’ll I’ll pay off or it won’t, but the gambles worth it. Taking risk like playing with my musical sound and just being vulnerable in my music have helped me grow emotionally as a human, and be more sturdy as a fellow dreamer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative who makes music, I don’t think there’s something that necessarily sets me apart like I’m some sort of Deity if you will, but I do feel as though people gravitate towards me because you can’t fake talent nor rawness. People label my rap as “aggressive” but I would same I’m passionate and articulate. A lot of my older music was experimental but still received very well by my supporters because of the authenticity and power.

I have a lot of people who I know and associate with who have either been in the industry or close too it. A lot of them have taken me aside and given me sound advice over the last 3 years I’ve been pursuing this. Of course as a newcomer to the game, I’ve made some mistakes. Paying for promo that were basically scams to me. Lack of promo in general. Image ideas, I although I’ve done my research, I’ve had a lot of people help fund me in the right direction. Including my Bible study teachers. They keep me morally grounded.

I’ve learned that your success is solely based off determination, discipline, effort and time. People want quick sprints. Like
Nipsey said, “This is a marathon”. I learned my success nor dream is not the responsibility of anyone but myself. My biggest lesson I’ve learned is to shut up, don’t talk, listen, and prosper. Nuff said.

I want the world to know that black sheep are usually the white lights in the world of darkness around them. I want the other little girls and boys who don’t fit societies mold to see that you can still be loved, liked, weird, and success by being a true you and living in your authenticity. I want the people who’ve walked through hell to see that only the prettiest, sturdiest and toughest roses rise from concrete and into a bouquet of salvation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first. BEACH. I love dockweiler beach. It’s so beautiful and the water is amazing. I also like seal beach and Malibu too. Anything with water. As far as my city, I would definitely take them to the Rose Bowl for a jog or hike and then hit the top to see the city at night. Old Town is actually really nice at night too for a night out. They have Club 54, Barney’s Beanery, The35er, etc. We would also definitely have to go to Eaton Canyon atleast once for the waterfall experience, and top the visit off with a visit to the Griffith Observatory. The stars and sight at night is so beautiful. My friend would definitely have fun haha.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna give a shout-out really to village behind me, there’s so many of you, and I thank each and every one of you for your support and love and honesty. My producer and engineer (@thescholarmusic), have been a huge help in me developing my artistry and artistic confidence. . My sister/stylist/makeup artist(@luxhannah), she not only supports me emotionally, but graciously provides her amazing makeup services for my shoots. My mom is very grounding and reminds me to have faith and Jah and pray. Last but not least, Jah or god for me. He’s had my back through it all and continues to lead me. I appreciate them all for loving me and guiding me throughout this so called “dream” of mine lol.
