We had the good fortune of connecting with Pierre Chapat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pierre, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was working at a local restaurant for 12 years running the catering department and decided to take a leap of faith and do it on my own. Opened the doors on early 2000 and it became apparent to me right away I had made the correct move. The road hasn’t been an easy one but it definitely has been a fulfilling one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a small family business that prides itself on our five star service and attention to detail. We care, each clients needs are of the upmost importance to us. We treat all of our clients like friends listening to all there needs so that no detail gets left out. It hasn’t been easy being open since early 2000 we have made it through some rough times. The 2008 economic crash, the woolsey fires that took out a large portion of venues we worked at on a regular basis. And of course most recently surviving Covid. Making it though all of these disasters hasn’t been easy to say the least, it took lots of initiative and creative thinking to get through. One thing we did learn is we always came out on the other side stronger. If anyone takes anything away from this we would hope its you cant do it with out amazing family and friends and never give up no matter how hard it might seem to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well being lucky enough to be close enough to drive to the beach and our weather being great mostly year round, I would have to say the beach would be our first stop. Stop by the pier or the board walk then ,lunch at Neptunes Net or Malibu Seafood right on the beach, two great spots. Another great place to visit if you are lucky enough to get invited is the Magic Castle, great food, drink, and entertainment can be found there. Very classy, everyone is dressed up and there is entertainment at every corner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Mother and Father, they showed me early on that it takes hard work and dedication to live your dream. My mother for teaching me morals and ethics, my father a chef himself for sparking the passion I have for food, creating, and plating. I would also like to mention my children for giving me the motivation to keep going. Couldn’t have done it without my families support the entire way. And last but not least, my amazing staff  80 % of them with me over 15 years.
