We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Precious, why did you pursue a creative career?
When i was younger I was always a daydreamer , my mind always tend to wander . Which is sometimes a good thing because it tend to show throughout my content on social media. It stimulates me, motivates me and it challenges me. I am not the typical statistic side of beauty. I knew once i stepped in to the industry knowing being different would make me stand out. Having a creative career path opened many doors for me being a freelance model , there are multiple opportunities in one . My love for fashion and makeup and social media management skill went hand in hand . Choosing a creative career gave me a safe space to be my true authentic self. Not only that it gives a safe space for those who feel like they don”t have a voice . With all my medical conditions I thank the heavens that I get to wake up everyday and embrace the challenges and make something positive out of it .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well my art is more like a big chunk of my story and it’s well detailed and very complex I’d like to say . One of my weakest traits vulnerability.  I’d like to think that it’s a very scary thing to do but it’s what makes my work authentic. Modeling brings out different sides with me whether it’s challenging my emotions or my fashion sense which tend to take me out of my comfort zone.  Two years ago I was thrown into the industry not knowing what I was doing who network with and how to fill up my portfolio . If I’m being honest I’m just learning as I go but that didn’t stop me from pursuing my dreams . This is more than just a job to me it’s a passion and it’s definitely something I can see happening long-term . I have definitely learned a lot about myself and being open to what I’m capable of when I used to doubt myself every other day. Modeling has definitely brought out a different confidence within me .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to say have Breakfast at Tracey”s on Western they have really good fry jack a.k.a fried bread which comes with refried beans and fish on a good day . Not only is the food good, some of my family members own the restaurant, it always feels like home . Then you could go Catalina island , there’s so much to do there . For example they have submarine ride and for those who are 21& up the cocktails are great ! Then you can go to El Matador beach in Malibu . The first time i went there was for a photo shoot , while was there I felt revived and took a huge step toward my healing process . We could also go To Botanical gardens around L.A. they are quite peaceful.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Personally I would like to thank my mom for always believing in me .  She has always been my rock and  the person I turn too when my world is falling apart . It’s almost like she always knows what to do even under the circumstances she’s in . I aspire to be as strong as her one day . As stubborn as I am she takes me as I am and teaches me valuable life skills to take into the future. So on that note thank you Mom !
