We had the good fortune of connecting with Prince Inspiration and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Prince, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My legacy…I want to be remembered for being myself. So proudly, authentically, and vulnerably that my being shines a light on others. I make music, write and perform spoken word, host artist events, and manage artists as well. In the midst of all this, I want to be remembered for my love and passion for the craft, and the love for myself and others. I’m built on love, and I feel its very important in any artists’ journey. I want to be remembered for bringing people together, for speaking on what’s not normally spoken on, and for having fun and expressing myself in the most authentic way. This what Id like to represent, and for my legacy to be, as Prince.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artist name is Prince Inspiration(A.K.A Prince Da Vinci), and I’m a Music Artist, Spoken Word Artist, Poet, Writer, Songwriter, Music/Artist Manager, Event Host, & Event Curator! I also have just started photography as well
I do feel with the talents I have and the skills I’m acquiring, I am a very important asset and possible contributor to a lot of future endeavors and projects that are either created by me or for others and by others. As I said before in the previous question, Phenomenal Voices and WeArre5ive are huge contributors to my growth overall in these respective realms. It was a process of trial and error and simply just fighting fear and trying new things. And with that same idea of being uncomfortable and opening myself up to new things, I’ve come to realize I’m capable of anything i put my mind and full effort too, I simply have to try in the face of fear and eventually Ill be able to achieve the goal I want.
With all this being said, I want others to know you’re capable of anything you put your mind to as well. Don’t stay comfortable for too long, the growth is in that uncomfortable place. Fear is an opportunity for growth every time, even if you try and fail, that’s growth in itself. Keep going, don’t give up on your passion!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay, so I Love to hang out and be outside. I’m an extroverted introvert so when I’m not enjoying my solitude, I enjoy spending time out with people!
I love to go to gaming places, or anywhere anime themed, I’m a huge nerd. I love to go to the movies because I love film and to experience that with people, and I also love to take long walks through the city and go out to eat! I love adventure overall, so the more to do the better, I just love to spend quality time with others, even if its inside but outside is preferred.
People should definitely consider going out to artist events they’re super dope. I also love going to certain gaming spots like Coexist Gaming, or even hitting up your favorite thrift store. I live in NYC, so there’s so much to do, which is why I enjoy adventure and being out. Whatever you’re down for lets do it! Those type of people I love to be around, as I’m the same way(until my social battery dies).
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Id like to dedicate my shoutout to 2 organizations I feel really made me into the artist I am today, and I have “Phenomenal Voices” and “WeArre5ive” to thank for growth and progression as an overall artist. PV(Phenomenal Voices, UAlbany Based Org) was the first organization i ever joined for creative and performing arts, and it opened my eyes and ears and mind to so much. I developed myself as a poet and writer in that organization and it helped me also in performing under pressure, further strengthening my artistry. Once I graduated UAlbany, PV branched out into “PV What’s Next” 2 years later at the top of 2023, which is now a NYC organization that hosts Open Mics, Poetry events, and game/karaoke nights in Brooklyn. I’m grateful to still be a member and have such a great org that’s helped me so much over the years since my freshman year in college.
WeArre5ive came into the picture right after I graduated in 2021. This was a different type of organization built from just a group of NYC creatives who all did music and art. 5IVE helped me grow into the music artist, event host, and event curator that I am today, and before 5IVE I would have never thought I was capable of that.
Now I’m a music/artist Manager who hosts and curates events with 5IVE, and I now host and curate my own personal artist events as well! Being with 5IVE made me come to realize how much I enjoy creating spaces for other artists such as myself, and it also made me realize how much insane talent is in NYC! It feels like a crime that majority of the talent isn’t recognized. This is what WeArre5ive is for! And I plan to input that same ideology into my own events.
Both these organizations are huge contributors to my growth in the music, entertainment, an arts industry, and I had to make sure to give that credit to those orgs that made me who I am today. I’m ready to see what else is next to come for me!
