We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Emprechtinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Priscilla, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue a creative career in Film Directing, Screenwriting and Podcasting because growing up I always had a passion and drive to portray real authentic human stories through the use of compelling visuals. I was born to be a Film director. As a child, there was nothing I enjoyed more than going to the movies or the theatre, absorbing the scenes and stories like a sponge. Then going home and trying to recreate the film in my bedroom, and having so much fun doing it. As an adult, I was lucky to turn my passion into a career.
I am a self-starter Storyteller that takes personal experiences and mixes them with a creative twist. Living in various countries has opened my eyes and formed a strong interest in capturing the beauty and diversity of different cultures. Over the past 3 years I’ve studied the film industry extensively at the New York Film Academy. Combined with writing and directing my own films and collaborating with teams, I strive to capture the real beauty around the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other Film Director’s is that I love capturing real life stories in authentic and innovative ways. The next creative project I will be directing is a film called #17, written by Sahand Fardi. Based on a true story, Sahand was paralyzed by a flu shot from the waist down, having to relearn how to walk and fit into society. I’m truly honored to be directing this story. Not only does this story need to be heard but it’s going to help bring awareness and give people hope, not to give up even when all odds seem against you!

You can also learn more about #17 on my podcast “The R Rated Podcast” where I discuss the film industry uncensored! If you are in the industry, a future filmmaker or even a film enthusiast, this podcast is for you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city would definitely include Universal Studios and Disneyland. You can’t come to LA and not go to one or the other. That’s where the magic started for me! Walking around Disneyland and seeing the immense amount of imagination around me was exhilarating. I wanted to be apart of that! I had that same excitement when I would go on the studio tour ride at Universal studios, seeing the process of how films were being made and what it really takes to make all that action happen, was mind blowing to me, but that’s when I knew I needed to be in this industry.
Of course it wouldn’t be a complete day in LA with out stopping at a local taco truck and ending the night with some Al Pastor tacos! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am today, with out the constant support of my family, but especially my mother Belinda. She has believed in me ever since I was a little girl, putting on a “show” for her everyday, she always so enthusiastic. I remember her looking into my eyes and telling me to go for my dreams and to never hold back my potential just because others might not have seen it yet.
