Meet Qasim Ali | eCommerce Businessman | Shopify Specialist | Part-time Freelancer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Qasim Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Qasim, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
For me, risk is not something to be afraid of — it’s an essential part of growth. Every meaningful step in my life and career came after taking a risk. I come from a simple background with limited resources, but I’ve always had a strong desire to build something of my own. Starting freelancing on Fiverr, learning Shopify, and now planning to launch my own online business — all of these were big risks for me, especially when I had no one to guide me.
To be honest, I haven’t found success in freelancing yet. I’ve been struggling and haven’t landed any clients so far, which has caused some financial loss. But I haven’t lost hope. I keep trying, learning, and improving myself — because I believe in myself, and above all, I trust Allah. I’m now starting my own Shopify business, and I strongly believe it will be something beneficial for me and a good source of income in the future, Insha’Allah.
There were times when I failed, lost money, or felt stuck — but every risk taught me something valuable. Every time I stepped out of my comfort zone, I gained confidence, experience, and clarity.
Now, I don’t take blind risks — I take calculated ones. I evaluate, prepare, and then commit fully. In my view, without taking risks, real progress is not possible. My story is proof that with consistent effort and faith, even risks can turn into the foundation of success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey into the business world started with 3 years of working in a private company. Life was stable, but I always felt something was missing — I wanted to build something of my own. One day, while scrolling through social media, I came across a video of a person learning online skills. I followed him for over a year, watching his success story unfold. It inspired me deeply and gave me the courage to resign from my job and return home.
After a few days, I visited his office, where I started learning Shopify and freelancing. But it wasn’t easy. I lived in a hostel with very basic conditions, far from home, and often didn’t even get proper meals. The institute was 10 km away and required daily travel by vehicle. I faced many struggles during this time — emotionally, physically, and financially.
After I completed my course, our teacher told us he wanted to hire team members from our batch. I was extremely happy, thinking I’d not only get a job but also continue learning. But after a few days, he asked us to go back home and promised to call us when work picked up. I waited, hopeful, but when I returned a month later, he said, “We can’t bring you in right now — things are slow.”
That was the turning point. I asked myself, “Qasim, how long will you keep waiting for a job? You’ve learned the skills — now build something of your own.” It wasn’t easy, but I kept going. I started sending proposals to agencies on LinkedIn, made new connections, but faced constant rejections. No one responded. Still, I didn’t give up.
I began building my Fiverr profile alongside. One of my friends then suggested, “Why not try eCommerce? You have the skills. Build your own brand.” That advice changed my direction. I’ve now built my first Shopify store, completed product research, and I’m ready to launch my first ad campaign next week. I truly believe that, InshaAllah, this will generate my first sales — the start of something meaningful.
Today, I’ve decided to focus fully on eCommerce as my long-term vision. Freelancing is now something I pursue part-time, while Shopify is the business I want to grow and build into a success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, I don’t have friends visiting from far-off cities yet, but if I did — I would welcome them straight to my home like family. Hospitality is very close to my heart, especially as someone from a village background in Jhang.
The first place I’d take them would be the famous shrine of Heer and Ranjha, a legendary love story rooted in Jhang’s history and Punjabi culture. It’s a peaceful and deeply meaningful site that captures the essence of true love and folklore.
Then I’d take them to Head Trimmu, a breathtaking place where two rivers meet. It’s one of the largest heads in the region and well known across Asia. Standing at that spot, you feel a connection with nature that’s powerful and calming at the same time.
Another must-visit is the shrine of Sultan Bahu, a highly respected Sufi saint. The spiritual energy there, especially during qawwali nights, is something you can only experience — not describe. It’s a place where hearts find peace.
But more than any famous place, I’d love to show them the colorful and simple village life of Jhang. The peaceful evenings, the open fields, the homemade food, and the warm hospitality — these are the real treasures of my city.
In my eyes, the best memories are made not in expensive places, but in meaningful moments, deep culture, and sincere hospitality. That’s what Jhang offers — and that’s what I’d proudly share with any friend who visits.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my parents. Every bit of credit for where I am today goes to them. They supported me financially when I had nothing and emotionally when I felt stuck. They’ve always believed in me, encouraged me to keep going, and never let me feel alone in this journey. Although I haven’t reached my destination yet — I’m still on the path — I truly believe that my goals are not far now, especially because I know my parents are with me every step of the way.
Secondly, I’d like to thank the teacher who taught me the skills I needed to step into freelancing and eCommerce. Their guidance gave me direction, and it’s because of them that I’m even able to give this interview today. I’ll always be grateful for their mentorship and for lighting the spark that helped me start this journey.
