We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Idol and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in a small town called Saltillo, Mississippi. My mom and dad raised me and my twin sister in the modeling and acting business. So our life was very eventful, we were always traveling to modeling shoots or filming commercials. Life was fun and wild. Life happens of course, and I had my daughter when I was 19 years old and got married and was in the military life style for 16 years. So the fun stopped for a while, when our daughter was born we did a lot of pageants and when she was 3 she sang on a stage to 500 people at a singing competition with no fear. So from then on, I picked back up and interred back into the business.

Today, I am working closely with a partner trying to show my talent, my daughters talent, while helping to discover raw talent from around the world. My life has had its up and downs but it has made me see what true grit work is.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others? Well, I am a problem solver, I like to solve things correctly and efficiently. When I am working if there is something I am not sure about I am not afraid to ask for help. When you explain it to me then I am the type to dive in and really learn my craft. I love working with a variety of people and listen to everyone’s ideas so that we can make something that is great extravagant. I am huge on communication and when you email, text me, me or call I am the type to answer right away or within the hour.

It took a lot of hard work to be where I am today. Don’t get me wrong, I have fell flat on my face a time or two. the biggest things is will you get up from it? I have learned that networking will get you noticed and seen. If you never reach out then you make it to where you don’t even exist. You will hear a 1000 “No’s” before you get one single “Yes” the biggest thing you have to learn in this business is resilience. You have to stay out of the drama don’t let it suck you in.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to see downtown Charleston, there is rich history here and so much you can learn. My favorite thing to do is go on the night time ghost walks. For some reason it is always calming to me to listen to stories and get fresh night air. The battery is great place to see all the rainbow row houses.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom and dad are my number one because they raised me to who I am today. A special thank you to my husband Brian for 16 amazing years. He is always believed in my dreams and always pushed me to move forward in life and not give up. My twin sister for all those hard life conversations and late night pep talks. To my kids (Haley, Carter, and Gabriel) for always being in the crowed and cheering me on. Last but not least Wayne Burdette Jr, thank you for giving me a chance and letting me join your team. Thank you for entrusting in me with searching for the right actors for your vision. Looking forward to what is yet to come.
