We had the good fortune of connecting with Rafael Vasck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rafael, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Well I definitely want to help people. I realized that some years ago. I think with my music and with my business I can do it, so thats one of the things that keeps me fighting to achieve my goals. I want people to remember as a man who its great doing his profession and someone who cares about people and the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well I would say my art is a completely mixed of cultures and sounds considering Im from cadiz, a little region in south Spain. I moved to London at the early age of eighteen years old and from there I´ve been in a bunch of places, always moved by the vibes and search of music.

I really think deep down music and love has been the reason what has made me never give up on this journey. It is definitely a difficult road but I think every life has struggles and every person has its owns fights so why not to pursue and fight for the life you want and will make you happy and grow your soul.

Some of the challenges I have gone thru in this music journey are the struggling with economic issues lol every musician should accept there are going to be many times when you find yourself broke and you have to learn to enjoy and learn from those moments and experiences too, don´t worry if you work hard and make a good job money will come. Other challenge is you are going to have to move several times and spend long times without seeing your family and leaving friends behind the road, but know what, looking at the positive part you will live tons of extraordinary experiences and you´ll meet a lot of new and exciting people who will teach you and same way they will learn from you.

At all difficult times there are lessons to be learnt, just enjoy life, enjoy the journey and the process.
One of the most important lessons I have learnt is no matter what don´t give up, whatever you do if you do it with love, constancy and faith there is nothing that will stop you to become your dreams into reality, how I said in one of my songs, always listen to your heart.

I would want the world to know that part of our music is just part of an energy that came thru me and all the people who worked on it from a deeper place than humanity. I think all music creations in part are made this way, is what artist call to that feeling “inspiration”, and as soon it makes you feel something Im happy with that. About my brand I would say it is more like a corporation that will help and will contribute with our grain of sand to the world and society.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had one friend coming to LA and I had the opportunity to show him around for a week, I will take him or her to check out the beaches like Venice beach, Santa monica, Manhattan beach and malibu. We would go out at night around Hollywood to places like the Harvard and stone or Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, damn I love those places! we also will go to eat some breakfast burritos at the boulevard and of course go to In-N-Out my favourite fast food restaurant in the world lol the trick when you go there ask for the animal style, you will thank me later. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Im extremely grateful to all the people who has supported me and have taught me in this music journey.

Firstable Im going to start mentioning some of my mentors. I would love to thank a great teacher I had in London who helped me teaching me music even though I was struggling with economic issues, his name is “Miroslav Santrac” and he is a great musician. After that I want to really thank the music school where I studied in Hollywood “Musicians Institute”, it is a marvelous institution and it really took all my knowledge and perspective in music to a completely deeper and higher level. At last but not least I want to thank the flamenco and classical maestro from Berklee college of music with whom Im studying rightnow “Alberto Fernandez”, an amazing spanish guitar player and musician.

Also its been a real pleasure work on my album “Alquimia” with the great producer “Paco Loco”, he is an awesome producer and its been a really amazing experience from day one to work with him. He is the type of person who will squeeze the best out of you.

Also I would love to thank my family who are being very supportive in this process and of course thank to you Voyage LA magazine, its been a real pleassure 🙂
