Meet Rahul Nath | Filmmaker and Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rahul Nath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rahul, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be in control in the kind of work that I wanted to do and I did not want to be halted in terms of my creativity. A lot of my ideas are non conventional and I like that, however its hard to sell that to someone who does not understand where you are coming from. So to speed up the fruition of my creative ideas, I went ahead and created my own company – NIK/NAK Productions and today we are creating content on all platforms and also branching out to all formats that include feature movies, web episodes and a variety of other shows such as travel shows and talk shows.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always believed in hard work and that is ONE thing you need to have to be successful, not just in the entertainment industry, but in any industry. And that hard work really has paid off for me. I am also very resilient, if I don’t get a job that I really wanted, I now am at the stage of my experience and career, where I believe that something bigger and better will come along. It’s so simple, but you would be surprised at how many people are not prepared to do the work and how many people just give up after a few years. I have refused to ever give up and also don’t know anything other than working hard.
I am most proud of my writing/directing achievements, that literally just organically happened. When I went on to make my first feature, this unexplained energy was all over me for a year, that pushed me to go beyond any dream or hope that I ever had as a filmmaker. It only really set in when I was at the Los Angeles premier and I took a breath and said ‘Wow – I made a feature and here we all are!’
Was it easy getting to where I am today? The answer is yes and no – easy because this is what I always wanted to do and not easy, because being rejected many times for jobs that you really wanted, was something that was initially very hard to stomach. But I have learnt that it all works out in the end and not to fret over any job, but really to just do the job and enjoy the whole process.
My brand and story is very unique and I am very unique, so I would want people to know that about me -I don’t fit into any norms and nor does my work and the material I write – I am so energetic when it comes to my work – it’s like I light up

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beauty of being in Los Angeles is it’s position with regards to the rest of the west coast – you go north and you have all the history of San Francisco and if you go south – you get the beauty of San Diego. And if you go east – you’ll make your way to Sin City aka Las Vegas. I always recommend to anyone visiting LA, not to make LA your one stop destination – make it ONE of your many stops as you explore all the west coast has to offer

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been fortunate enough to have worked not only in the USA, but all over the world, including directors in Bollywood, the Caribbean and also from my hometown the UK. It;s really hard to pinpoint just one person, but I can say that it has taken a village of people who have helped me elevate, each and every year to a different level in my career. I can only say a BIG thank you to all the people who have fought for me and also for the people who took a chance on me. Many directors have repeated me several times, so that in itself, lets me know that I am doing something right
