Meet Raina René: Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raina René and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raina, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my favorite quotes is: “Don’t just go through it, grow through it”. I’m not sure who said it, but this is something I say to myself all the time. I love this quote because it reminds me to make sure I’m learning from every situation. You have to learn from the good and also the not so good. We all experience “things”, what matters is how you develop from them. I constantly have these “moments”, and I love them because they force me to pivot when I need to, adapt when I need to, just overall always evolving and making things better.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
dé LUXE candles derived from a moment in time when I realized life was too short to keep talking about something I want to do and not do it. I talked about starting my own candle business for years. I went to Florida to visit my father who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was having surgery to have it removed. While I was there, a light bulb lit up in my head and I said why wait any longer. That very moment I pulled out my computer and created my LLC, the rest is history. It wasn’t easy, I did so much research to figure out how I wanted my candles to be different. Having asthma, using soy wax was one of the things that was important to me. I also wanted to make sure they were free of paraffins, phthalates and other harmful chemicals. I’m very intentional these days about what goes in my body and that includes what you inhale. I always encourage everyone to treat your body like a temple, it’s the only one you have. Next was selecting a vessel that I would love and of course everyone else would love. I wanted something you would want to keep in your home even after the wax was finished. There was lots of trial and error to get to where the candles are now, from mistakes in quantity orders or just enhancements and being able to provide my customers with the best product I could possibly provide without compromising the integrity of the candle. To this day I continue to do research and continue to improve to ensure customers are getting the absolute best.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is my company stands for quality and value. I’m so dedicated to making sure each customer has a pleasant buying experience and receives a quality product – I get that from my mom who is so particular about details. These are not your average candles, they burn with an amazing scent for hours. déLUXE candles illuminate with both scent and appearance. My company stands behind all of those things proudly.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely dedicate my achievements to my parents. They. have always been my source of inspiration. I have an amazing partner, family and friends who provide me with so much love and support. They keep me motivated on days when I’m a little drained. I work so hard because I’m afraid to let them down. That keeps me going.
