We had the good fortune of connecting with Rama Montakhabi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rama, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because it’s my passion in life and what better career to have than to do something you love everyday while getting paid to do. Being recognized for your efforts & talent is an incredible feeling!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Painting started as a form of therapy for me after losing both of my parents only 5-6 years ago to health reasons. I realized I possessed a talent I never knew I had & started painting more. My art is from my heart. I zone out for hours and come out with incredible, detailed art everyone can love & appreciate. I’m excited to have my work displayed and seen in galleries coming soon.

Professionally, I went for my dreams full force after my losses knowing life is short and I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Every morning before getting out of bed, I would submit myself to 10-20 castings on La castings. I’d maybe hear back from 1 or 2 to do an audition and out of all the auditions I sent in, would maybe hear back from 1 out of 8. Heard way more “no’s” than “yes’s” but that only motivated me to go harder. The moment you get discouraged in this industry is the moment you have given up on yourself and your dreams. You have to believe in yourself so hard that others have a hard time not believing in you as well. I’ve learned that timing is everything, patience TRULY is a virtue and manifestation is real.

I have envisioned everything I wanted in detail & have received more than I could have ever imagined in a million years. This is only the beginning of my journey & I’m excited to see how my future unfolds.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely start by taking them on a hike, then biking or rollerskating by the beach. All of my friends know me to be an outdoorsy kinda gal so they all ask to come on my adventures with me. Dinners In Malibu along the PCH are a must and we also have to stop by Wally’s in Beverly Hills for a drink and appetizer. Also Delilah’s jazz night is a total vibe. Love all of the rooftop restaurants and lounges for the incredible views & ambiance. We would have to also stop by a mansion party in the hills at least once. If the time permits, would definitely want to take them to a premier or red carpet event so they can see what it’s like behind the scenes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing entertainment lawyer Sabriya Dublin & our incredible show runner Randy Huggins. They believed in me and gave me a chance & the opportunity to audition which ultimately landed me a part in the BMF series. There have also been several friends in the business who have sacrificed hours to help me better myself and sharpen my craft. Forever grateful for everyone who has assisted me on my journey.
