We had the good fortune of connecting with RAMIRO RODRIGUEZ ZAMARRIPA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RAMIRO, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I like to think of risk as an essential motor for progress and change. Taking risks has significantly contributed to being where I am. It forced me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to be a better version of myself. It was not an easy decision to study music composition in Argentina after graduating from school. It’s not easy to earn a living working in the arts in South America. So I knew I had to be one hundred per cent committed and give it my all. The following risky decision was to leave my home country to move to the US to pursue the dream of becoming a film composer in Hollywood. Once again, it was a tough choice with lots of unknowns, but I knew if I worked hard on my craft with persistence, eventually, an opportunity would arise.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a film composer. I write music for films, series, and documentaries and help directors and producers tell their stories. No matter the project, if it’s me working on my own or collaborating with other composers, I’m always experimenting with synths and instruments, trying to find the right sounds to elevate the movie. Eclecticism is something that characterizes my work. In order to survive in the industry, you’ve got to be able to wear different hats, do various tasks and write music in different genres. And that is something I genuinely enjoy doing! I owe where I am professionally to my parents, education, and people who were kind and humble enough to let me be part of their team and introduce me to other players in the business. It was not easy to get to where I am right now, especially being an immigrant. It’s a challenge to emigrate to a different country, all by yourself, and build a career from scratch. But there’s nothing one cannot achieve with the right mindset, support and people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever a friend is in town, I always take them to the beach. I really like the westside! I’d suggest having lunch in Abbot Kinney and then going to the beach. Experience the crazy Venice vibes, watch some basketball, the skate park, pop tennis and go for a swim. I’d probably suggest going for drinks at the Bungalow or Elephante in Santa Monica to watch the sunset. There’s a very cool Latin party called Al Tun Tun in West Hollywood where I usually take friends whenever they’re down for partying.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They’ve been great supporters from day one. They never hesitated to encourage me when I said I wanted to study music and become a film composer. They’ve always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted to do as long as I did it with dedication and commitment. They’ve always backed my decisions, even when I told them I wanted to leave my home, family, and friends to move to Los Angeles. I would also like to give credit to Tim Davies, a fantastic conductor and orchestrator who trusted me and took me as an intern while studying at UCLA. He showed me how the music industry in Hollywood worked and helped me get my career in LA started.
