Meet Rani Alfers | CEO & Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rani Alfers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rani, what do you want people to remember about you?
When I ask this question on the Working Women Mentor podcast, I’m always moved by the variety of answers—it’s a reminder that legacy is so personal and evolves over time. For me, especially after becoming a mom, my perspective on legacy has shifted. Now, I’d like to be remembered as someone who lived with curiosity, kindness, and courage. For my son, I hope to leave an example that shows him life is a continuous lesson, where stepping outside our comfort zones brings both growth and fulfillment. If my journey inspires even a few people to approach life with gratitude, openness and resilience, then that would be a legacy I’d be proud to leave.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nineteen years ago, I took a significant leap of faith and started an all-lines insurance agency, which has since continued to grow and thrive under my guidance and a talented team. As my passion for professional growth deepened, I decided to continue to focus my energy on business and founded EMR Equity, a development group, with the goal of identifying our first acquisition. It was not appealing to me to stay in a “professional box,” we should never let that happen.
Looking back, I am most proud of the fact that I recognized my talents and took the first steps toward applying them outside of my current industry. The decision to pursue new opportunities in the luxury skincare market led me to an acquisition and my current role as CEO of EMK Skincare, a company founded in Beverly Hills with a rich legacy and enormous potential for growth.
My life has been shaped by a willingness to take risks and embrace new challenges, and I remain committed to exploring new horizons and pushing beyond my limits. I laugh when someone says, why skincare you have an insurance background. It’s as if insurance was perceived as my only skill, no one was looking at the actual business aspect of my agency or my talents as a professional. Through hard work and dedication, each day for me is a new opportunity to create a career that I love and look forward to seeing evolve.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d absolutely take them on an unforgettable week in Los Angeles, especially around Beverly Hills, where I spent time acquiring EMK Skincare and continue to have meetings with our vendors and accounts in the area. We’d start with a stay at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, of course—it’s luxurious and quintessentially LA. For our first night, we’d head straight to the rooftop at The Peninsula for cocktails at sunset, overlooking the city lights. It’s such a stunning spot to start any trip!
The next day, we’d do brunch at The Ivy on Robertson Boulevard—an iconic LA spot with the prettiest patio. Afterward, we’d stroll down Melrose for some window shopping and vintage finds, then hit up the Getty Center. The views are spectacular, and I love how calming the gardens are.
For a true LA wine experience, I’d include a stop at Wally’s Beverly Hills. It’s just minutes from The Peninsula and offers a chic yet relaxed ambiance that perfectly complements a day of shopping and sightseeing. With a curated selection of wines from around the world, it’s a great place to enjoy a flight or savor a glass of Cali’s best. Wally’s also has a delicious menu that pairs perfectly with their wines, making it a spot we could easily settle into for a while. It’s the ideal spot to unwind, toast to a fantastic trip, and enjoy the evening LA vibe!
Mid-week, we’d go for a beach day in Malibu. We’d grab breakfast at Malibu Farm right on the pier and then relax at El Matador Beach—it’s a hidden gem with beautiful rock formations. Dinner would be at Nobu Malibu, where you can’t beat the ambiance and ocean views.
Back in Beverly Hills, I’d set up a spa day for us at Tomoko Spa—an experience in pure relaxation. For a dose of old Hollywood, we’d head to Musso & Frank Grill for dinner and finish the night with a show at The Hollywood Bowl if there’s a concert, we’d both love.
Finally, I’d save some time for us to hike Runyon Canyon—nothing like an early morning hike with views over the entire city. We’d end the trip with dinner at Spago Beverly Hills, Wolfgang Puck’s flagship restaurant, for a true LA experience.
Los Angeles is so full of life and personality, and Beverly Hills holds a special place in my heart. Between the inspiring sights, legendary spots, and relaxed beach vibes, it’s the perfect mix for an unforgettable week
