We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasec Marc Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rasec Marc, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up in high school, I’ve had struggles with the complexities of puberty and teenage drama. The inability to share personal information at home made the feeling of loneliness difficult to manage. That is when I discovered writing. I wrote my feelings to a piece of paper every time emotional hurdles challenge me. I found solace in expressing my feelings through literature. Soon the writing has turned to songwriting. I guess you could say that the artistic career found me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I write songs for my artist brand and for other people. The challenge comes from the amount of vulnerability it takes to express your thoughts and ideas to a world full of judgement. But the overcoming comes from the understanding that my work does not have to serve me but serve the very world I am intimidated by.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Kbbq is my favorite place to share a meal. The conversations grow in quality as we are served unlimited high quality meat. Then Disneyland would definitely be a part of the itinerary. Santa Monica along with Malibu would be also be one of the day trip visits. I know that in all these visits, their reaction to seeing these places will give me much more perspective on how grateful I am to live in a place like LA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my wife, Giel Mae. There were many moments of weakness where she has lifted me up and pushed me to face the challenges over and over again. The strength that a love one could give you has such a different level of impact compared to what I can do on my own.
