Meet Reanna Shay Holt | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reanna Shay Holt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reanna Shay, what do you attribute your success to?
My most important factor behind the success of everything I do is pure authenticity and everything being created from a space of love. I always want people to see what I create and know that it comes from the purest part of my heart. If it’s my Reawaken Journals, Journal Prompt, Choreography a song or music. It all comes from a place that is pure and honest. The back of my very first journals I released in 2020 say “lead with love”. People can feel when you are being authentic with your work and I truly believe that is a massive factor behind my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a natural born mover. My artistry started with dancing. From the age of three years old movement became a way to express myself as well as get my energy out 😉 I completely fell in love and it led me to start competitively dancing from six years old to sixteen. It was a great way to build some tough skin and learn the discipline and team work it takes to win! Once I hit sixteen I knew I wanted to dance professionally and that I had outgrown my studio so I left and went to a more performing arts based studio and joined a pre professional dance company. I always knew college wasn’t for me and back then I felt ashamed by that, but now I understand that my path was very different from the ones surrounding me. At 19 years old I packed up my bags and left my hometown in Utah to live in Los Angeles. My heart broke leaving everything I knew but I also knew that I was meant to be somewhere else. I’ve been in LA since and wow! I could write an entire book on all of my experiences. I have had the opportunity to work as a professional dancer, have life experience and meet SO many incredible artists. When the pandemic hit in 2020 everything I had been working for had been stripped away from me and looking back now I could not have been more grateful. I was able to take a good hard look and go inward to how I was showing up in my life and SO much has changed since. I have opened my mind into how my artistry bleeds into everything I do. I started a weekly Journal Prompt where a community of people come together to journal collectively heal and find connection. I created and sold over 100 copies of my first every Reawaken Journal Volume One. I booked my absolute dream job working side by side next to one of my favorite musical artists. I realized my love and passion for music and am now in the process of creating my first ever EP! Stay tuned 😉 all of this to say! We are ever evolving and changing humans. They is SO much beautiful potential in every day. I encourage everyone to never be scared to reinvent yourself and dive into whatever brings you pure joy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What a fun question! I mean number one place we would go would be the beach. The beaches in California always bring me such comfort and open my mind to how magical this world and city is. Los Angeles has some of the most exciting and different food spots! My absolute favorite is Monty’s Burger. YUM! Also Lettuce Feast food truck in NoHo on Sunday. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I love the energy in the city! It is always alive and FULL of different experiences. I love thrift shopping so we would absolutely head down to Melrose and shops on Ventura! There is also a FIRE place to thrift in Van Nuys but we are keeping the name a secret 😉 grabbing drinks in Los Angeles is always a treat! I am not much of club person but more interesting bar person lol if that is even thing. I love Firefly, Black Liquor Market, Jalapeño Pete’s. Too many to list! Above all the things I love in the city the people and my people more specific are my favorite. From house hangs to two of my very dear friends place called The Art Lab there is SO much inspiring humans always putting on shows and releasing their art. Wow! This made me love LA even more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh man! SO many people play SUCH an important part in my success and journey. My number one would hands down be my family. Every day I count my lucky stars for the love and support they have shown me since day one. In our family there is not a dream that is too wild. I love my family! Shout out my mom, dad and brother 🙂
