Meet Rebecca Mcbride | Songwriter, Artist & Violinist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Mcbride and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to make an income from the multiple facets of music I love. I’m currently working on growing my artist project and placing songs in film and TV shows. So far, my songs can be found on Netflix, MAX, MTV, CBS, Roku, etc. Even though writing is one of favorite things to do, I also love performing, especially with my Taylor Swift cover band “The Bettys” and with my incredibly talented friends who are artists. As I build my career and brand, I hope to write songs with notable pop artists and maybe even go on tour! Even though I would love to achieve major accomplishments in the music industry, my ultimate goal is to create music that will resonate with people and make a difference.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My musical journey began at age 2 when I started studying classical violin. Ever since then, I’ve taken every opportunity to be involved in music: playing flute and alto sax in band, joining choir, and arranging string quartets for fun. However, everything changed when I attended my first concert, which was Taylor Swift’s Fearless Tour. Since then, I knew that I wanted to be like Taylor. So I taught myself piano and guitar and started writing songs. From there, I attended Berklee College of Music to study Songwriting and Film Scoring. While I had plenty of musical experience, I struggled to find my identity and my sound. Instead of experimenting, I let my perfectionism get in the way which lead to inaction. However, this year, I’m proud to say that I’ve gotten out of my own way and released four songs, with two more coming soon. Coincidentally, by not worrying about my sound, I’ve found it! By incorporating my favorite elements such as ethereal vocals and soaring strings, I’ve found a way to share stories and songs that feel like me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As somewhat of a newcomer to LA, I’m still learning the best places to go. But my favorite thing to do is going to the beach and getting lobster rolls from Broad Street Oyster Company. Other favorites would be going to shows at awesome venues like Hotel Cafe or going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s impossible to pick just one! I’ve had so much help throughout my journey. So I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents for their constant support, to my mentors for the invaluable lessons in music and life, and to my collaborators for believing in me. I couldn’t do it without my community.
