Meet Rebecca Trujillo Vest | Rebecca Trujillo Vest | Osmunda Music & CEO/Programs Director, Pandion Music Foundation

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Trujillo Vest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, why did you pursue a creative career?
I grew up in Santa Fe, NM—a place that fosters creativity in many forms. Early on, I found contemplative moments making music to be a nurturing experience similar to a mother’s love. We can connect and communicate through music. We can touch hearts. . . and then minds. It provides the power to create shared experiences. For me, the messaging is the most important part of creating my music.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I formed Osmunda Music, a band and brand to guide my musical output. My work is influenced by many genres including world music, new age, pop, folk, rock, Americana, and children’s music. To date, I have released numerous singles and four albums including Munda, Sending My Love, Mantras, and Love Will Overcome. My latest album TAKE MY HAND was released on Aug. 18, 2023. Several of my projects have been submitted for GRAMMY nominations.
I founded the nonprofit 501(c)(3) Pandion Music Foundation (PMF) in 2022 with two other women artists, Jordan Stobbe (Melbourne, AUS) and Carls Wolf (London, UK), who I met through an online songwriting course during the COVID pandemic. Together we’re based across three continents and multiple time zones, which makes our Zoom calls interesting! PMF is dedicated to fostering growth in the music creator community through free online educational resources, workshops, wellness guidance. and direct access to experts. MF was created to provide these tools and nurture the music creator community across all lines of diversity and inclusion.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For the best time ever, I would suggest the following: A yoga practice with Hala Khouri or any teacher at Shefa Yoga and a few special ones at Hot8 yoga.
A hike at Will Rogers State Historic Park and then a picnic.
A day at Zuma Beach swimming and collecting seashells.
After stocking up on groceries at the local health food store and preparing a meal at home for family and friends
Walking on the Venice boardwalk. Or bike ride along the coast.
Gathering at Earthstar Creation Center to join in some music fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow, that’s a tough one because I feel I am part of such a community of benevolent, creative people. I would say that my husband Michael Vest, who is a musician and co-founder of Earthstar Creation Center along with me, and our son Ravi, who is our ever-present ray of sunshine.
