We had the good fortune of connecting with Regan Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I was in college, I was a promotions intern at a radio station. I had written songs for fun in my room and to express my feelings, but never thought of it as more than that. At the time I was still considering what direction I wanted to take as far as career path and jobs out of school. One day while I was interning, a country artist came into the station for her radio tour. We were asked to sit in and listen to her perform. From the moment she began telling her stories behind the songs she had written, I knew that songwriting was what I was supposed to be doing. It was a lightbulb moment that I will never forget. I felt like God was telling me, this is the next step.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I recently released my first EP (“r.”) into the world. It is a collection of songs I am super proud of and has become an introduction to me as an artist. I grew up on country music and have been in Nashville for a while, so this was something I have been dreaming of for a while now.
I believe that these six songs show that not only my voice and writing set me apart, but also the chill, easygoingness that comes with my music. Throughout the release of this project, I have had the opportunity to be featured in Cowgirl Magazine, Rolling Stone, Cowboys & Indians, and on major Spotify/Apple playlists. However this project is just the beginning. I’m excited for the next chapter and for you to get to know a little bit more about me, Regan.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in Nashville, so if I had friends visiting it would be hard to narrow it down! Their visit would have to include a few of my favorites.
We would grab lunch at 51st Deli, which is my favorite sandwich shop in town, or Jack Browns Burger Joint.
We would also tour the Country Music Hall of Fame and catch a show at the Opry and The Listening Room Cafe.
At some point, we would have to go walk down broadway and hang in Robert’s for a little country music.
Late night drinks would be at Losers/Winners in Midtown, Bobby’s Idle Hour, or Nashville Palace.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my parents. I would not be where I am today without them. Throughout every area of my life they have been the most consistent supporters of me and my dreams, whether that be sports, mission work, or music. They are the people who drive through the night to make it to almost every show, while wearing the merch. They are two of the most selfless, giving, and loving people I have ever met. I know whatever I choose to do in life, they will be behind me cheering me on. I’m very grateful that God placed them in my life.
