We had the good fortune of connecting with Rique’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rique’, what do you attribute your success to?
Well what is success? Success is the achievement of something desired, planned or attempted. Meaning it is subjective to your personal achievements. I feel that money and material things should not be the definition or the value of you or your brand, but how you carry yourself on the eternal and spiritual level and finding out what truly makes you happy. Purpose is the most important factor in my success. Understanding that my goal, my purpose is helping people and contributing to people’s lives in a positive manner by sharing my story through fitness and music. Providing the inspiration and showing the dedication it takes to keep growing in health and wellness and showing my creative side as my expression all contributes to what makes me a success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Music is my passion, it is a reflection of my soul. I don’t just put words together randomly, say the coolest things, or jump on the bandwagon of others. From my diverse lyricism and poetic therapeutic approach, to my sonic presence, my music speaks life and purpose. It oozes authenticity and is easily relatable to the heart of my listeners. I’m proud of my growth as a man. It allows the energy I possess to be translated into my music and show the many layers apart of me. Professionally, I am where I am off pure desire and dedication. Being a student in life and deciding to use music as a tool to relay my testimony of life. This is more than a profession to me, it is who I am. Having a divine message is never easy, but any challenges I have encountered have been battled with my belief and determination to not be silenced, stopped or deterred from my main goal which is speaking life and showing redemption is achievable. Along the way, I have learned to live life before I engage in my creative process. It’s imperative to have positive experiences in life to build on character. I can then accept my failures as lessons needed to move forward. Together, both lessons provide the substance I need to translate the message in my art. You can have the most witty lines and best metaphors, but it’s the struggle and growth together that will give the energy needed to succeed in my craft. I want the world to know that I am obsessed with being the best version of myself and so should they.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is full life. For vibes, I like Atlantic Station, Ponce City Market and the city. You may catch me on many of the rooftop restaurants for drinks or a day party at Suite Food Lounge. Grab some chicken and waffles at Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar or Milk and Honey. If you fancy, check out Steak Market. You may see me at a music festival or Birthday Bash. And for peace and relaxation, visit one of the many waterfalls or the Botanical Gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shout out to my family and another big shout out to my friends that are like my family. They play a big role in my career as well as my foundation as a man. Most of all, shout out to God because he is engineering my purpose.
