We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Ransome and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start Ransome Realty Group, I was really at a point of thinking I had learned all I could from everyone else to that point. I had been a Realtor® for 13 years at that point and felt that I was ready to be the person that other agents could come to for advice and guidance. I was fortunate enough to be around some very knowledgeable Brokers throughout my years of learning the business of Real Estate and I wanted to try wearing the Broker hat myself. They say that experience is the best teacher, and I could not agree more with that statement today. Learning how to be a successful agent is a steep learning curve. Learning to be a succesful Broker is jumping out of a plane with one parachute and figuring out how to get yourself, and all the people that have no parachutes that jumped with you, safely on the ground below. But I stepped out on faith…and with a great attorney partner and have not looked back or regretted that decision

What should our readers know about your business?
As the Principal Broker of Ransome Realty Group, I am overjoyed at the thought of expanding my business in Los Angeles! 20 years ago, when I worked as a technician in a Semiconductor plant, I always felt a calling to do something bigger. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, but I just did not know how to do that at the time. As I started looking for other careers, my mother mentioned how good she thought I would be as a Realtor®. My parents taught me small lessons in real estate early in my life, but I had never considered it as a career. As I started thinking about it more, I realized that it gave me everything that I could ever want in a career. I have to problem solve every day. One minute I am your therapist helping you through a tough life situation that your property may be attached to, and the next, I am your biggest cheerleader as you reach your real estate goal. I get to meet different people every day. My mother will say that I have never met a stranger! As cliche’ as that sounds, that is probably very close to being true. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people that started off as clients, but they have now transitioned to being very good friends of mine. And I can promise that I have made just as much of an impact in their lives as they made in mine. And I get to do this every day, without limits! Has it been easy? Absolutely not! Winning the trust of someone to allow you to help them with one of the biggest decisions of their life is not easy, nor is it supposed to be. But that is the challenge that I live for. At Ransome Realty Group our motto is “Serving, Giving, Adding Value ~ First!” That comes from a chapter in a book that I read many years ago, but it perfectly defines what we are about. I will always give to my clients, family, friends, the world, first without ever expecting something in return. As a brand, that willingness to give has served me well over the years and now I get to expand that philosophy even more in LA!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being someone that loves the outdoors, the beach is one of the first places that I would go. I am still trying to decide which beaches are the best, but the sound of the waves and the bright sun does the body good in my opinion! I think most of my friends that have never been to Los Angeles would get really giddy over seeing landmarks like the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory. Those places are iconic and I think they are a must just because. But given my profession, my friends would expect me to drive them through the Hollywood hills to see if they can catch glimpses of incredible properties or through Beverly Hills for the chance to maybe see a celebrity or two. For a fun night out, Riviera 31 inside Sofitel has consistently been one of the most fun, live Salsa places that I have ever been to! You are guaranteed to have a fun night out dancing and drinking. And to round out the week, a visit to the Getty Center to experience all that it has to offer would make for a complete trip!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents and my brother first and foremost. They have ALWAYS supported me in my business and my life as a whole. As a matter of fact, when I was starting Ransome Realty Group, I interviewed a person that I wanted to hire as a Transaction Coordinator. After agreeing to the terms of our business relationship, that person disappeared and left myself and my agents without an integral piece of what I was building. My mother immediately volunteered her time to become our TC and she has remained in that position ever since. And my dad and brother are always right next to my mom encouraging me and speaking life into my business. My friends Antoine and Spencer Holmes, also known as The Estate Twins are also side by side with me in this business and have watched and encouraged me to begin the Bi-coastal transition and help it come to life. And last but certainly not least, is the most important person ever in my life. My daughter is the mental push that I use every day as a reminder of the legacy that I am building for her. I love you Lauren!
