We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Nunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From a young age I’ve always liked the concept of being able to control my own destiny and the limitless opportunities that come with being a reputable and authentic business owner. Thinking back to my high school teenage years, I remember trying different things to make extra money with my friends. One of the things I would do is make a deal with the select few 4.0 GPA students who had a pass to leave the school for lunch and have them bring back In & Out burger meals. We would then be able to sell the meals to kids at a price high enough that both me and the student that picked it up could profit daily (this was before food delivery apps). I also have always had an interest in knowing how business works, how things were created and knowing who is in control. These types of things are what I find fun, fulfilling and rewarding so I always knew I was going to start my own business. The harder part for me (which took years) was finding something that would be successful to the point I could be ‘all in’ and enjoy putting in the countless hours that’s needed to run and build a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
My company, Interactive Images Inc. is an Augmented Reality focused creative agency based in Los Angeles, California. We combine proven technology with existing tradition to make existing and new content more valuable and engaging.

Our data has proven that people are more likely to view, interact, share, and feel that they received more value in their photo based product purchase when our form of time capsule storytelling and content distribution methods are used.
We specialize in activating video or artist and/or fan generated video content directly from static images such as school photos, laminates, posters, display case covers, floor/wall decals, photo-booth backdrops, printed collateral and more.

The hard part about business is that its often not a straight line, you may spend hours/days/weeks on something thinking this is what the customer wants and will take off but it doesn’t work out and then the opposite can happen where a client comes from somewhere you didn’t expect. What helped me get to the point of success I have today is to always focus on solving the clients problems and goals as well as really listening to them to know where the business pain points are. I have learned its better to do one thing really well for your clients instead of trying to do everything for them (that you think they want to hear) in order to get their business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the Astoria rooftop in Beverly Hills. My friends that I have taken there did not realize that you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to go there and its a top notch place with great views of the city that allows you to get a drink and have a relaxed upscale experience. They do a good job of making it reservation only so it’s not too crowded and it still feels like a secret place.

I would also take them on the Fryman canyon hike in Sherman Oaks. It’s a great workout and less of a tourist attraction then the nearby Runyon Canyon which is much more crowded. We have a little of everything in LA, I would also make sure we checked out the Malibu beaches and if possible would also catch a Lakers game downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A lot of people come to mind but I would say my parents and family have always been a great support system for me and I’ve been blessed to have their guidance and encouragement. There has been times where it would have been easy for them to say ‘It may not work out’, you need to get a 9-5 or start focusing on other things but they always felt as long as I’m working hard and I learn from the mistakes as I go that everything will work itself out.

I would also thank Peter Lars, the owner of Cornerstone Photography in Moorpark, California for being our first real customer years ago and listening to our sales pitch from the beginning. Without Cornerstone taking a leap of faith in trying out our idea our business would have never had the opportunity to grow in the way that it did.
