We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Zymet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Primarily, having an eye for aesthetics in art, style, design and having a natural affinity for visual art. It comes through in the art I offer to my clients. Also a professionalism and a sense of caring that what I sell and how I handle a sale is crucial to a successful and long term career..

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about my services offered to my clients and how I perform them. From art/collectibles acquisitions for private clients and institutions to divestments and trades. I love finding the right work of art for my client, streamlining the process and assisting in the home/office placement of the work. What sets me apart, is the ability to quickly adapt to current market trends, being aware of trending/emerging artists, long standing relationships with key players in the art community and the personal interest I take in every client I deal with. Also, I believe that the awareness of shifts in the art and collectibles market are a reflection of societal trends and interests, which tend to have a direct effect.
Really though, it’s about providing experiences through art and building long standing relationships.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I’m meeting a client or friend in L.A., one of my first choices is Hauser & Wirth gallery in the Arts District, they represent some of the worlds most consequential artists and it’s located in a classic vintage building. I always follow the art viewing by lunch at Manuela, which happens to be on the expansive Hauser & Wirth property. Not far away is the Broad Museum which recently exhibited a comprehensive Keith Haring show. and contains one of the finest permanent collections of Contemporary Art.
Huntington Gardens, The Getty Museum and Griffith Park Observatory are also top choices when hosting or meeting friends and clients.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Most definitely it’s my mother who appreciated art/design and encouraged me to pursue a career in this field. From Museum/gallery exhibitions to art books and a dose of business at school, it all came together to help me form my ambitions in the Art World.
