Meet Robin Antin | Creator of The Pussycat Dolls

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Antin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robin, how do you think about risk?
When I started this 30 years ago it was a passion project, not knowing that I would ever make any money from it— for ten years. When I got the opportunity to turn it into a girl band, it changed my life. We auditioned girls looking for our lead singer— that’s when we found Nicole Scherzinger who became the face and the voice. Myself and the record company took a risk by putting this type of image out there— nobody had ever seen anything like it. Needless to say, It worked.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a dancer, I have tied my whole career around dance. That’s the reason I started PCD, playground LA, and am now the co creative producer of Burlesque the musical on the west end- which my brother wrote and directed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The dog park called Dog PPL. Getting red light therapy at the spa, and my favorite restaurant is Craig’s!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my mum and my brother, Steven— I owe everything to them. And besides the girls that I chose to be dolls in 1995, inspirational people such as Christina Applegate, Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz, Carmen Electra, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, McG, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Mikey Minden, Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson, and the list goes on!
