We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodd Rahnama and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodd, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I lost my father at the age of 7, and this loss set in motion several events that led to my starting a business. The loss left my mom, who was a stay-at-home mother, as a single parent and the new sole provider. And although I was the youngest child by many years, I was the only boy and I internalized that I needed to be the new “man of the house,” with all the anxiety and guilt that ensued because I felt that I needed to do more to help my family. I promised myself at that young age that I would do everything I could to make sure me and my children do not feel that way when I grow up. Once I made it to high school, I received my first job offer at a mortgage company doing customer service for minimum wage. I accepted this unglamorous job because years earlier I had made the promise to myself.

While the job was initially challenging, as the years progressed, each promotion I received strengthened my confidence in my ability to make this my career. Of course, I had also promised my mom that I would finish college. So, once I received my degree, I was eager to start my own business.

Starting my own business in the financial industry at 21 years old did not come without challenges. But I stuck with it because growing up, I saw my mom struggle in her encounters with the banking and lending industry. She was routinely taken advantage of by people in the industry, whether it was when she had to sell our childhood home, or otherwise. And I am aware that millions of people are in the same or more difficult situations at any given time. As my business started growing, I wanted to continue to make the experience as simple and encouraging as possible.

To make this dream a reality, I launched Ridge Capital Group in 2017 with my partner Ethan Moradifar. A boutique mortgage and real estate firm that takes care of all real estate and financing needs under one roof. I am proud to say that since 2017, Ridge Capital Group has funded over $850,000,000.00 in mortgage and real estate volume, and we do not plan on slowing down. We pride ourselves on giving our clients an exceptional customer service experience. We offer flexible closing costs, the lowest rates we have access to, and we focus on being a referral-based firm – our clients become our family.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ridge Capital Group was founded in 2017. The idea behind our launch was to serve all your real estate and financing needs under one roof. Working for years in the mortgage industry, I had seen far too many deals fall apart because of a lack of communication, knowledge, or professionalism. Simultaneously my partner was working in the real estate industry for years he was experiencing the same issues on the opposite side of things.

We saw a real need for clients to be able to have all their needs taken care in-house. At Ridge Capital Group we pride ourselves in our abilities to provide the following services: Purchase or Sale of property, Purchase Loans, Refinances, SBA Loans, Constructions Loans, Credit Repair Services, Private Financing, Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, Home Equity Lines of Credit and much more. Our dedicated Loan Officers, Real Estate Brokers, and Processors understand that our mission is to make your next real estate or mortgage transaction as seamless as possible. Our clients become our family and over 60% of our business is referral based – and to us – that is the biggest compliment we can receive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If a friend was coming to visit, I would definitely want to take them on a food tour because I am a big foodie. I would separate the places to go based on breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For breakfast we would go to Cicis Cafe, Blue Jam Cafe, and Courage Bagels. All of these are super casual and offer really good food.

For lunch we would have to go to none other than In-N-Out, and other staples like Howlin Rays for fried chicken, Bay Cities for deli sandwiches, and Malibu Seafood.

Los Angeles has great dinner restaurants especially if you want the LA nightlife ambiance. For sushi, I would go to Koi. For an all-American dinner with a good ambiance, South Beverly Grill never disappoints. For a more casual setting, my go-to is Raffi’s in Glendale for Kebab/Middle-Eastern cuisine. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention the best Chinese restaurant in Downtown LA: Yang Chow.

Most importantly, if a friend is visiting, we would go to a Lakers game!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I have been extremely lucky to have an amazing support system around me. First and foremost, my mother, Shohreh, has been my protector, parent, best friend, role model and hero. I could never put into words the love and gratitude I have for my mom. Without her support I would have been lost and I am forever grateful to her.

I want to thank my sisters, Ghazal and Asal for always having my back, supporting me, and playing the various roles that were needed of you both in my life at different times. They are my best friends always and the greatest examples of how to carry yourself in such a trying world.

I want to thank my Aunt Mojgan for always being there for me and my family; she is like a second mom to me, and I am always grateful for her.

My beautiful wife, Bahar. I want to thank her for supporting me through the ups and downs through the years. Without her unwavering support, none of this would be possible. Her dedication to making the world a better place and her amazing work ethic have motivated me daily and continues to do so.
