We had the good fortune of connecting with Josefine & Dominik from Red White Adventures and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josefine & Dominik, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We originally started our blog as an online “scrapbook” for our travels. Since we were already moving between countries and traveling so much we figured it would be easier to store our memories online than carrying around a heavy book. At the same time, by creating a blog we could also inspire other people to do the same as we do: traveling full time while working remotely.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our blog is all about living a digital nomad lifestyle including the best nomad destinations and all the things to do there with an extra focus on outdoor adventures. Our goal is to inspire more people to live a digital nomad lifestyle or at least to move abroad instead of taking the ordinary route in life.
We started our blog in 2019 and obviously had a very big obstacle in terms of the pandemic. It definitely wasn’t the easiest time to promote traveling when the entire world is shut down. Nevertheless, we took advantage of all the time we had at home and kept working on building out content, learning about SEO, and improving our strategies and our writing — and that definitely has paid off!
One big lesson we’ve learned along the way is that you shouldn’t try going it alone. There is literally no reason for you to try to do everything yourself and to think you need to learn everything from scratch. The best thing we’ve done in our business is to invest into it: We hired a designer to create our website, we hired help to edit our ebook before launching it, we went on a retreat in Kenya with other aspiring creators, and we joined a blogging course and got a mentor. Investing into your business is the single most important thing you can do as a blogger and entrepreneur.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is a hard question to answer as there are so many roads that have led us to where we are today. Most importantly, though, is our families and their support. From the beginning of our travels as well as our online entrepreneur journey, they have been so supportive of us, our love for each other, and our aspirations. Without their support, it would’ve been so much harder for us to get to where we are now.
