We had the good fortune of connecting with Rohmon Merchant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rohmon, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I’m probably the foremost worse expert on giving up, I am very stubborn and don’t quit many things, however I can say with ease I definitely believe it is time to give up when your joy is truly gone. The hardest thing I believe to do is keeping your focus moving forward when your brand or goals seem to wall it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to quit, even if its constant for a while. The journey is always better than the destination, and when you over emphasize the latter greater than the former you truly take the joy completely out of your work. I do believe that smarter than quitting altogether I believe in adjustments. Maybe, your dream or idea is outdated, or approach might need to change a bit, or maybe need reinvention possibly. I don’t think give up should be an answer, you will always be haunted with the what if’s. If you still have joy in what you do, don’t quit.

What should our readers know about your business?
Heritage Park Production is built from my passion for telling stories through many different art forms and mediums. Originally we were just a rap label and as I got older, I realized some of the things I was writing could be more than just songs, since then we continue to produce music, but also produce tv shows, written books, and working on a couple of films. We have also launched our own streaming service this last October. It was not easy at all, and it for sure is not easy today, the best way I deal with it is make sure to take time for myself when I am frustrated and remind myself how far I have come. I keep in mind that I might not be the most talented, and there we always be someone who is the hottest and the newest, but I can be the most consistent, and that is what I hold onto more than anything. I want to do my best to continue to tell great stories and connect with as many people as possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I know for sure, there will be a whole day trip at Newport Beach, I love riding my longboard, or bikes from Balboa through Newport and sometimes all the way to Huntington love eating either lunch or dinner out there one of the spot to eat is Nexx Burger, and end the day at Ding Tea and grab a Monster Latte with Boba..;.perfect day, Of course gotta mention Disneyland, I get a lot of inspiration from being there gotta check out Star Wars land! I am not a big fan to most restaurants and stuff, but I do like the Daug House…Amazing, and we can shop at Victoria Gardens in my home city of Rancho Cucamonga, and the Cabazon mall. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Huge shoutout to my HP (Heritage Park) Team, I have brought a lot of things to the forefront and they have taken on and supported so much, its make my day to see them on so many different shots and I love them all like crazy.
