Meet Rory O’Connell | Lead Singer/Guitarist – Bristol to Memory

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rory O’Connell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rory, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
“Without risk there is no reward” or so we’ve been told. The truth of the matter is we must push ourselves beyond our comfort zone to make any advances in our lives and careers. The greatest gains we’ve seen in our careers as a musicians have always been when we take risks and find ourselves outside of a controlled environment. The reason for this is we will never achieve anything more than what we have already obtained unless we push ourselves into new situations where opportunities can be presented. We must remind ourselves that nothing comes easy or free and its the difficult things in life that always prove to be the most rewarding.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As musicians we put ourselves in positions to work at our highest level. From writing and recording to performing live we rise to meet the occasion. Its an interesting concept when you think about it. Why do we become better at what we do when we’re surrounded by individuals as good or even better than ourselves? Possibly its the concept of “survival of the fittest” or “sink or swim”. Regardless of how you cut it, its determination and perseverance that makes the difference between success and failure. To tie back into the first question, we must always push ourselves outside of our comfort zone to be the very best at what we do!

We want to give a shoutout to all of our fans! We wouldn’t be able to play shows, tour the country or write meaningful music without the inspiration and support from our fans. We’ve lasted as long as we have in the music industry because the devotion of our fanbase. From sleeping on floors on the road, to dinners before shows, to words of innovation that bloom into songs… none of this would be possible without our fans. Thank you for everything!
