We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Galvis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rose, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Cali, Colombia, a city brimming with colors and culture, dance and tradition, overflowing with passion and flavor. I feel that all of this is etched onto my skin and defines who I am as an artist and as a woman. As an only child, I also carry the blend of individuality and tranquility when I am with myself. Growing up, I immersed myself in all the artistic showcases at school, participating in folkloric dance, where I consistently found the same characteristics of rich flavor and love for life. I believe that all of that is present in who I am today as a person and an artist, and it permeates every one of my performances, each approached from a different perspective, seizing every moment to fully embody the character.

I possess a unique viewpoint, and my decisions often appear unconventional to others, but I sense that therein lies the distinction. Over time, I have learned to respect and embrace this uniqueness because it is what makes me who I am today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The journey of becoming a professional actor in the USA has been a fascinating process but is not as easy an smooth as it might seem.. Starting from scratch, without any prior knowledge on how the industry works, I began opening doors and found myself alongside major stars, participating in music videos, or simply stepping into renowned studios as an actress. On a professional level, I am excited about the new challenges and projects that lie ahead in the coming year. Although the previous year left us somewhat disheartened with the strike, I also believe it was a necessary step. It’s a path full of challenges, but with a lot of love, patience, and self-confidence, it can be forged, regardless of the time it takes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Great question. I believe that with my friends, I’ve always wanted to showcase everything, literally everything that makes Los Angeles what it is, including riding buses and the metro. I would undoubtedly take them to experience the iconic Hall of Fame in the city, but I would also lead them on a hike to the Hollywood Sign. I’d take the opportunity to show them one of the city’s gems, the Griffith Observatory. We’d visit Marina del Rey, Santa Monica/Venice, where, depending on the weather, we could bike or skate. We’d explore Malibu and the Pacific Palisades area (as you can see this will take most of the time just because I love the beach) and we’ll chase sunsets. The Beverly Hills Hotel is a must-visit, along with Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. From there, we’d come down Wilshire to LACMA and enjoy Jazz Nights. For dinner, we’d head to Ysabel, Laurel Hardware, Delilah, Toca Madera. That’s the answer from a relatively new Angelina! Oh, I almost forgot a game of the LA KINGS and LAKERS.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the universe for placing me in the position I am in, surrounded by the right people. Not only have I grown artistically, but I have also grown personally. I extend my thanks to Mom and Dad for helping me believe that it was possible and giving me the opportunity to dream and materialize those dreams through their efforts.

I am indebted to the Art of Acting Studio, my initial home in LA, where I learned and flourished alongside exceptional instructors and incredibly talented peers who have been a tremendous support on my journey. Gratitude also goes to my friends, the chosen family, for their unwavering support during moments of doubt. Above all, I commend myself for taking the leap, for daring to fly and land in a city without acquaintances, without a past, without any idea of how things worked, and transforming it into the greatest experience of my life.
