We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Kinsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The habits that helped me succeed was being consistent with the production of my business, that I feel is number one when you’re dealing with customers . Other habits include providing assurance of the quality of the products , time management, continuing to brand & promote my business even during times when I felt like people were tired of seeing my posts I kept going & never stopped .
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is the quality that I provide , my personalization with each of my customers , & the uniqueness of my desserts . What I’m most proud of is my ability to continue and keep going through all of my triumphs because it’s so easy to give up & so much harder to keep going . Once you get through those small hurtles in life you start to feel unstoppable & that’s how I feel in life . Nothing is impossible to me . I’m most excited about where I’m going to be within the next year , will it be custom cakes? Will it be a bakery in the heart of Los Angeles ? We shall see! Owning a business is far from easy . It is a lot of hard work , dedication & sacrifices that you have to be willing to make . You have to be willing to miss out on those parties with your friends, sleeping in , just things like that . I overcame a lot of my challenge by knowing that I had people so close to me that will never let me fail , they kept pushing me & were always in my corner . My friends never let me feel left out when I Couldn’t attend because they knew what was important to me & overtime knowing I had the ability to wake up everyday at 5am became easy , I was excited about it because while the world was sleeping in I knew how much I could get done during those peaceful hours . The lessons I’ve learned along the way is stay true to who you are , always do what you’re passionate about & remember to ALWAYS be consistent. It’ can get hard & sometimes feel lonely but God will never leave your side . I want the world to know that I started at the age of 15/16 & I am only 23 owning not one successful businesses but two . Anything is possible , you must have faith and always keep God first .
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area & I wanted to show them the best time ever I would take them to The Coffee Company for Breakfast , Alma’s food for the soul in Compton for their delicious soul food , Pucker up lemonade for their refreshing drinks ( so many to choose from ) . Take them down to Crenshaw & Slauson to Visit where Nipsey Hussle owned his first clothing store & what would be a trip in LA without visiting Hollywood’s walk of fame ? Definitely hang out on Venice beach board walk that’s always fun & a must! For night life I would take her down to LA Live in downtown where they’re known for having basketball games , concerts , bowling & they reach where the crowd is diversified.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I want to recognize my mother . She played an extreme part in my success . Whenever I felt like I couldn’t do it she was always there , whatever I needed she never said no , I actually started off using her money because at the age of 15/16 I didn’t have any which is pretty funny looking back . She never gave up on me . I also want to shoutout my close friends & my customers who continued to support me from the start of my business . Whenever I needed help they were there , promotion they were the ones who made it happen & they never missed a beat when it came to my business . When it comes to my customers I want to thank them for sticking with me on this journey it has never been easy but it was so worth it from the kind words , the motivation , the faces they make when I deliver them their desserts & their positive feedback . Without these people in my life I don’t know how I these things would be possible!
