Meet Rose Wallace | Dancefitness Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was leaving the gym I was working for. I had been there for 7 years and built a lot of solid relationships with my coworkers and students. My students were like family to me but it was time for me to bet on myself. It was time to brand my business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Dancefitness business began in 2017. I just had went through a divorce and was now a single mom of two. While in my marriage I neglected myself. When I looked in the mirror, I didn’t even recognize who I was. I was depressed and I gained a lot of weight. I lost my self esteem and my confidence. I had experienced verbal abuse and it really made me feel less than who I knew I was so I decided to start working on myself. First thing I knew I needed to do was to work on my health and fitness. I wanted to go the gym but I had no one to babysit for me and I began to create dances in my basement. I would get up before the kids and dance for an hour. I started losing weight, feeling great and building back up my confidence. I just didn’t want to keep this to myself. I wanted every single mom to feel what I felt. I taught class in my basement for a whole year for free. Sometimes my classes were full and sometimes no one showed up but the class still went on. I had to keep integrity to myself. After that I began teaching Zumba and working for different gyms and studios.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to La for the weekend I would take her to Palm Springs. It’s a cool spot with nice restaurants and shops located in one area. I would also take her to the Joshua tree. It’s a tourist area that has cactus trees and it’s in the desert. Very cool spot and nice for pictures . On our way back we can hit up Manhattan beach and enjoy a day of relaxing. If she felt like the night life we can go to Lost a new roof top in downtown LA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my sister Ann Wallace. I had just began my wellness entrepreneur business and decided that I was going to teach a dance class. I honestly thought I was going to do it one time and that would be the end. After the class was over my sister asked when was the next class and I thought to myself oh she wants to do it again. That was the birth of my Rosedancefit business.
