We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosemary Idisi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rosemary, how do you think about risk?
I think taking risks is the only way to get places in life. A quote I live by is “Nothing great comes without risk” and I think that is the truest thing. Taking risks allows you to grow, learn and experience new things!
I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t take risks. Have I been afraid to take risks in the past? Yes, but today I get excited about it. Taking risks has shown me potential that I didn’t even know I had and I’ve learned that I can step out of my comfort zone and actually like it! In the acting industry, I’ve learned that taking risks often makes me stand out, so whenever I’m audition taping I tend to make risky choices, which usually ends up being my strongest work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a co-star role as Pastel in Season 5 Episode 8 of Snowfall on FX/Hulu so check it out! I also star in “The Nest” which is a short film thats circulating through film festivals right now! I’m definitely most excited about what else is to come! Once I booked my first TV role it just got me super excited about all the other roles I will book in the future. I can’t wait to be back on another set!
As an actress nothing is ever easy! This is such a competitive industry and it’s hard to not get discouraged sometimes. I just try my best to not compare myself or my journey to anyone else’s and I focus on myself and my growth; this is how I overcome most challenges and it’s how I’ve gotten to where I am today. Along the way I have learned that life is full of ups and downs and ebbs and flows, and to just ride the wave, work hard, and trust God’s timing and plan. Things always work out, especially if you’ve put in the work, so I’ve learned that there’s no point in freaking out when things are not going as planned. I want the world to know that what I’ve accomplished thus far is cool and all but I’m only just getting started!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my best friend to the Mulholland Dr scenic overlook at night time! That is, in my opinion, the BEST view. At night, everything is lit up and it is just so beautiful and calming. I would also take them to the Venice beach boardwalk. There are tons of vendors and performers there and then we could lay on the beach. One of my favorite spots on the boardwalk is called Empanadas and Coffee and their empanadas are SO good. I would probably also stop in West Hollywood, the night life there is great and there’s this spot called Fiesta Cantina that has giant margaritas in so many different flavors and the food is great! Some of the best tacos I’ve had are at Pablitos Tacos in Burbank so that would definitely be on the itinerary. Lastly I’d probably stop at a comedy show at The Laugh Factory or at one of the various comedy clubs in LA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my mom for sure! Without her love and support I don’t know what I would do. She believes in me and my dreams and that alone gives me a lot of confidence to go after the things I want. My friends as well! I have such a supportive group of friends that I can always ask to help read for me when I have audition tapes due. It’s always nice to have a support system and a lot of people don’t have that, so I realize how blessed and lucky I am to have people rooting for me.
