Meet Roxanne Griffith | Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxanne Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roxanne, what inspires you?
I find myself inspired more and more by my peers. I see them finding their own journey to success, and it is exciting to see how different they all are. It shows to me that there is no one right way to find success in this industry, and it inspires me to continue down my own path. What makes them similar is that they all have worked hard for their success and been honest about their own doubts and insecurities. I am inspired both by their work and their honesty, and this pushes me to keep going even through difficult moments.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my career is how important collaboration is in filmmaking, and on every project I work on I try to emphasize this aspect of the process. It is important to me that every voice is heard, whether it is a production assistant or cinematographer, all voices are valuable to making the film the best it can be. It is not always easy to work with people, and that was one of the challenges I had to work through while studying at the American Film Institute Conservatory. You have a lot of different personality types and communication styles in the film industry, and it is important to me that despite these differences, everyone feels heard and respected on the project. It can definitely be a challenge at times, but the end results is well worth it, where everyone feels that their voice is heard.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Most of my recommendations of what to do in LA revolves around food; I have a few favorite places now that I can never get tired of. For ice cream, Mashti Malone’s is my go to. It serves Persian ice cream, and I always get the saffron rosewater flavor. I also recommend Rosty in Highland Park for great Peruvian food. It’s delicious and is in a cool area, so there’s lots to do after eating like going to Highland Park Bowl or checking out one of the bars in the area. Dan Sung Sa is one of my favorite Korean restaurants and has great food and drinks. It’s always busy but is well worth the wait. For activities in LA, going to Cinespia for an outdoor screening is always a good time. And the Alamo theatre downtown is really fun; you can order food and drinks during the movie and they bring it straight to your seat. LA has a lot of good breakfast options; HomeState has great breakfast tacos and Lady Bird Cafe is one of my top brunch spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my family, who have always supported my love of moviemaking from childhood.
