We had the good fortune of connecting with Rozie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ROZIE, why did you pursue a creative career?
I always say I didn’t choose it, it chose me. Creativity is a part of my existence. Making your art become a career is a bonus, but you don’t pursue it because you think it’s going to make you the most successful. You do it because you love it, and you know there’s no other way to happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been in the industry for a long time. I always knew I wanted to be an artist. I was the shyest kid, but felt the most confident on a stage. My shyness would go away as soon as I was in front of a big crowd, expressing myself. My career sort of just evolved as I evolved, as a young teenager. I would perform somewhere, and someone would approach me, and then things snowballed from there. I was signed to a record label at the age of 16. Things evolved organically in the beginning, and then when you hit a certain age, or have gone through enough challenges, you realize that things aren’t that easy. And then its a decision based off of if this is really worth all of the challenges or if you’d rather just choose a different career path. But I feel like I don’t have a choice. Music is within me. And I know I would be extremely unfulfilled if I didn’t pursue music.

I want the world to know me as authentic. The ‘brand’ that I have created is just, me. What inspires me, what excites me, what personal experiences I’ve gone through. I really think that its impossible to be relatable if you aren’t honest with yourself. About what you’re writing, what you’re wearing, what you’re saying, how you are saying it. It’s just gotta be real. Thats how you connect. And thats what makes great art.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve got a whole lot of love in my life and people who support my artistry in a very meaningful way. My support system is very grounding and humbling and I’m very grateful for them.

One of my favourite books of all time is ‘the power of awareness’ by Neville Goddard. I’ve got to give a shoutout to this book, because it has changed me in so many ways. Being aware of the essence of your being, and having the inner knowing of who you are and why you are here, is the foundation you need to create from your authentic heart.
