We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruben “MusicMan” Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruben “MusicMan”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was to somehow have the ability to choose how I do and who I do business with, to have a high standard of service and remain honest and with integrity. As an employee in different fields such as Teaching, Music, Audio Engineering and Broadband, In each job I had, I was always put in a position where my integrity would be tested, where I had to choose between my Job security or my integrity, the answer was always my integrity comes first. Thats being said I had to leave the job behind. It was always an “Expensive” decision to make financially but nothing is worth more than your dignity and integrity. This is what ultimately lead me to start my business and I have not looked back since.
What should our readers know about your business?
MusicMan Engineering provides tech services to both media professionals and day to day users. Our services Include installations, repairs, modifications, upgrades, data recovery, custom built systems, remote desktop service and support for discontinued models. We are 5 Star Rated on Thumbtack, Google, Facebook Business and Amazon Home Services. We serve people first and machines second, also always putting the customers interest first. We are also one of few companies who services “Legacy” systems or to put it bluntly dinosaurs. When starting the company I was quite nervous and didn’t quite know what I was “Signing Up” for, lots of sleepless nights, slow clientele and early “flaky” customers, when COVID and the stay at home order hit I was convinced that we were going to go under, though I persevered and trusted God with my company, health and sanity. May 1st 2021 will be our second year in business and we are blessed to still be able to serve our clients safely during COVID and to have acquired a new contract with a Florida based company who is outsourcing work to us here in California. Many of the lessons I have learned while running my company have been always be professional, have a high standard of service, always be respectful and patient with clients, be understanding, professional/business relationships are worth more than a paycheck, never compromise your integrity, don’t be afraid to say no or decline an offer that is not beneficial to the company, only represent the brands and products of companies who have a standard of quality. I want the world to know that MusicMan Engineering is a company and brand who care deeply about its clients and their needs and best interests, to us you are not just another account number or paycheck, we want to help you create, work more efficiently, and feel at ease and confident in your equipment and setup. last but not least we want you to know that everything we do is custom tailored to you like a bespoke suit. We don’t take “off the shelf” or “cookie cuter” approaches to any service we provide.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
El Coyote is my all time favorite restaurant to catch up with friends and have a drink and a good meal! Ask for Mario he is the best Bartender in the house.
