We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruby Woo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruby, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because music has always been my first love. The ability to be creative and expressive through music is a feeling unlike any other. It’s what I am passionate about and what I look forward too everyday!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a soulful singer/songwriter within the Los Angeles area. I started singing at a young age, in church. I then joined a group in my hometown of Pittsburg, CA. I continued on as a solo artist a couple years later. I spent a lot of time performing live and singing on a couple of tours. It’s been a long, hard road but it has been worth it. There were many challenges to overcome which meant that I had to be absolutely fearless in every move I made. I’ve learned that I have to always be my biggest fan. I’ve also learned that not everyone is headed in the same direction as I am and it’s ok to drop them off along the way. I’m most excited about my upcoming EP that will be released this year. I’ve been working on this project for a long time and my hope is that others enjoy it and relate to it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m still learning my way around but if my best friend were visiting we’d definitely hit the beach. We could sit out there for hours. We also love to shop so the mall of course. I’d take her to eat at Louisiana Charlie’s and YardHouse. We’d probably spend a lot of time at my house watching Netflix and cooking we both love to cook!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my parents! It’s so important to have a great support system who believe in you. Thank you Mom and Dad for pushing me to be better and loving me through all my choices!
