We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Simkhai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, how do you think about risk?
I believe every great success story involves some kind of risk. You won’t achieve success by just sitting in your comfort zone, every aspect of your life from your social life to your health involves you to sometimes having to take those risks and stepping outside your comfort zone.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our mission extends beyond simply offering stylish eyewear. With hopes to inspire people to make a statement when it comes to their glasses, recognizing that what we wear has a direct effect on how we feel. By providing chic and modern styles in distinctive designs, colors, and textures, Ryan Simkhai Eyeshop aims to ensure that every element of an outfit — including eyewear — contributes to the wearer’s confidence and overall sense of style. Our Los Angeles roots play a significant role in shaping its aesthetics, with the city’s vibrant and diverse culture serving as a continuous source of inspiration. As we look forward to future releases, they remain committed to introducing innovative styles that cater to the evolving needs and tastes of their customers. We’ve been featured in national magazines and news outlets, including, Oprah Daily “Oprah’s Favorite Things”, Good Morning America, ABC’s The View, The Tamron Hall Show. They are also featured in boutique retailers around the country. The company and its founder have a big vision for 2023 and beyond as they continue to expand their styles and nationwide availability. By fostering partnerships with like-minded businesses and individuals, Ryan Simkhai Eyeshop aims to strengthen its connection to the Los Angeles community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re so lucky to live in a city with so much excitement whether it’s trying out one of the many restaurants LA has to offer, the beautiful beaches, catch one of Los Angeles sports teams or explore a museum, there is never a shortage of things to do. I think no morning itinerary should ever be started without some coffee and a breakfast burrito so I’d definitely make my way to no other place than Dialog Cafe in West Hollywood. I would definitely walk a meal like that off on a beautiful walk at Runyon Canyon and really take in the awesome views of the city and coast. LA has many great luch spots some of my favorite places include Croft Alley, Easy Street and République. You can never go wrong with driving down PCH and enjoying the waves as you drive to Malibu to stop by the Country Mart and grab a quick drink at the beautiful Little Beach House. I love a good sporting event and so a Laker game should definitely be in the cards. Following the game some awesome dinner options are South Beverly Grill, Little Dom’s or Sushi Fumi.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Formerly I coached varsity high school basketball for 5 memorable years along with running the day to day operations of my eyewear brand and I would not be in the position I’m in today if it wasn’t for all the former student athletes I’ve coached. There are many days where we can all use a little extra motivation and anytime I need to find that I always remember the sacrifices those students made to achieve their dreams and all the wonderful times we shared in the process.
