We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrina Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabrina, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I think that exerting real and genuine energy will help you attract and gravitate towards people in the music industry you will have long lasting connections with and help you build a community around you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I definitely faced a lot of challenges coming into the music industry, like many I lived in a city (Hong Kong) that was very corporate. I didn’t realise that being in the music industry was even a possibility, I really felt like I was worlds away from it. I never really met anyone in the industry or anyone that pursued a career outside of the corporate route until I was a lot older. My first entry was working with some DJ’s in Hong Kong, but I knew that my music taste was so different to what most people around me enjoyed. Once I graduated University in the UK, I moved back to Hong Kong and did whatever it took to figure out HOW to move to Los Angeles. In 2020, I finally packed my bags and was set on moving, however the week I landed in Los Angeles the whole city was beginning to shut down due to COVID. So two months later, I had to leave and move back to London where my family is also based. From there, I reached out to Emmavie and joined her management team and started breaking into the exact music world I wanted to be a part of. I started working with more Alternative R&B artists/artists that have worked closely with Soulection and started joining more management teams and extending my network across the globe. A year and a half later, I moved back to Los Angeles and hit the ground running. I started working for Multi-Grammy Winning Producer/Artist Frank Dukes supporting his debut album, joined 8X Platinum Artist Che Ecru’s team and supported the management team of 11 Time Grammy Nominated artist Lucky Daye. I am now also working as a Senior Product Manager at Too Lost.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Would definitely go to K-town for some Korean BBQ, take them to Malibu or some other beaches along the PCH, go on some hikes like Skull Rock or nearer to the beaches. I’d take them to flea markets Downtown or on Melrose and definitely some gigs and events/parties.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Emmavie, the first person that started my entire journey into the music industry and for taking a chance on me and inviting me onto her management team! Super big love to her and for everyone along the way that I connected with that taught me, supported me and believed in me. To Josh, Monty, Devin, Anjali, Courtney and many other people.
