We had the good fortune of connecting with Sakeenah Sievwright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sakeenah, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Creating successful habits both personally and professionally are a crucial part of what it means to actually achieve success! You have to COMMIT to the craft and the work required to meet the demand of the business. When you create successful habits, it really doesn’t matter what industry or role that you’re in, your efforts will give you some kind of result-either to move on or try again. One must be CONSISTENT in following through to completion. A lot of people have really great ideas, can make really great food or design many great things but those that stick with the task at hand, are usually those that become successful and have longevity in the business! PERSISTENCE is a crucial part of the success in business! There will be hardships and hurdles that may discourage you from reaching your goals but powering through despite any difficulties that come your way is what helps to make success that much sweeter! In the moment of a hollering 18 month old, a client call in minutes and a hungry 6 year old, you may want to bow out but the old saying holds true…nothing worth having comes easy! What you put in, is also what you get out, even when you’re seeing double and exhausted! Lastly, no matter how many hats one wears, you cannot do it alone! Well, I believe that there are many that contribute to any one person’s success. Whether it’s the mail carrier that makes sure that your client packages are picked up in a timely manner or the person that gives you that little piece of advice every now and then-we all need a support system to successfully grow! At times, being able to sit back and be a good listener, even when you think that you have it all figured out is crucial to the success of any business. As a business owner, you never stop learning or you should never stop because you only limit yourself in the places that you can grow! Being open to constructive feedback is something that has contributed to the success of my business and creating a habit of LISTENING even when I think that I know it all! One of my motto’s is “Success is individually determined with a commitment to excellence and the ability of the mind to achieve! One cannot live in this world alone so build your team and thrive”!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Soul Sweet Creations was created out of a love for all things sweet and simply to add a little sweetness to living! The ability to create great tastes for others to enjoy is really something to be happy about! I mean, we all love to eat and no we don’t live for food, but it’s really great when you’ve tasted something really delicious! When I meet those that have enjoyed a Soul Sweet Creation or I get feedback, I am truly inspired! I absolutely LOVE my business and what it can do for someone by adding a little sweetness to their life at just the right moment! Creating tasty sweet treats for those special moments and memorable occasions is an absolute pleasure! To make great food is one thing but creating from the Soul and for the Love of it, is another! That’s what makes Soul Sweet so special-We Make What You Crave and really take pride in doing so! We make “Any Occasion” sweets to simply say Thank You, I’m Thinking of You, Happy Birthday or I do!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well…as an LA native I’ve been a little bit of everywhere in Southern Cali but being so spread out here there are so many great little spots for foodies, fashion or just relaxing! The beaches and eateries of Santa Monica with the fast-paced setting and bike paths are great! Maybe even renting a bike to ride from my old stomping ground where I grew up in Redondo Beach but making sure to stop off at one of my fav little Mexican spots that are- I feel, pretty popular around LA…El Tarasco! We’ll regroup the next day after a long day of bike riding at this little carefree spa in mid-city Los Angeles-Beverly Hills Hot Springs! If you’re feeling less meaty and vegan, we can grab a bite at Real Food Daily on La Cienega in the busyness of Los Angeles. We’ll then try Melrose for some shopping, hoping it’s the same as it was back in the day but at least the fun of people watching will be an experience! Can’t forget to stop by J&Grey Boutique on Washington in Culver City for some unique fashion finds, after having a bite from Maxwell’s down the way! We’ll do half a day at the Wax Museum or Museum of Candy, as I’ve surprisingly never been to either place! Maybe we’ll head out one morning to the Flavor Table in Los Angeles for their amazingly scrumptious salmon croquettes with a side of extremely cheesy Homestyle Potatoes! We can’t forget about the San Fernando Valley-grabbing a fresh juice or smoothie from Juicy Ladies on Ventura or a little shopping in studio city and brunch at Aroma Coffee & Tea. Can you tell that I’m a foodie yet?! We may end the night at a Paint & Sip gathering that I put together at a local Inglewood venue-A Toast 2 Artistry!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
THANKING GOD for the source of all things given! My family, friends that I call family, the customers and clients that have, and continue to support Soul Sweet Creations on this sweet journey! I am FOREVER GRATEFUL for the hands, the input, suggestions, feedback and thought of choosing Soul Sweet to satisfy a sweet craving! I know that people can choose to spend their time and money doing or purchasing so many other things but just knowing that you (you know who you are) chose Soul Sweet Creations in whatever way, has helped and continues to help Soul Sweet Creations be great! As I say. “build your team and thrive”! I count ALL of you as a part of my team and one of the many reasons I stay encouraged and inspired to create that much more sweetness for the world to ENJOY!
