We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Saleh DDS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I’d like to say that when I first started my career, I felt the profession had the tendency of being lonely- essentially when you’re a dentist, you work within the four walls of an operatory and you interact with your patients and staff only.

After choosing to incorporate social media into my practice over 12 years ago, I found that it revolutionized the way in which I practiced dentistry because essentially those four walls came down and I found myself to be part of a global community. My followers were not only patients but also colleagues as well as dental students from all over the world. The impact that this had was phenomenal. My influence led to life changing choices by people who until today send messages telling me that it is because of me and my practice that they chose their career. This outcome motivates me everyday to be the best version of myself so that I can continue to be a positive role model and do my part in elevating the profession of dentistry to the next level. I also believe my practice has served as an educational platform for oral health care, teaching followers the importance of dental care and connecting dental healthcare providers through an international network.

There are also those who are self conscious about their smile, suffering with internal restrictions and low self-esteem that are largely self-imposed.
I’ve been able to demonstrate through my videos and photographs that a solution is possible. The hope this provides is extraordinary. I know this because of the countless stories I’m able to share about patients who begin following me on social media and make the life changing decision to have treatment completed with me. This of course makes me incredibly happy as I’m able to share and be a part of this journey to the best, new version of themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Traditionally the process of aesthetic dentistry is separated into two parts: the role of the dentist who prepares the natural tooth structure, followed by the role of an outside laboratory who produces the final porcelain. My process is different in that I’ve married the two under one roof. I design teeth based on the individual patient’s facial features, age, as well as personality. This is presented in the form of a trial smile that is then verified and modified as necessary. My team of master ceramists, who are in-house, will then bring my design to life in the form of porcelain. I’ve found this approach sets us apart because we are able to provide our patients with a truly custom smile that has been integrated with patient input for both aesthetics and functionality. Creating this protocol was not without its challenges as it involved not only expertise in the field of dentistry, but also sourcing skilled artisans who share my aesthetic vision and are able to work in harmony and unison to consistently deliver a very high standard of care. It is my hope that my philosophy resonates with others in the aesthetic field and inspires them to follow a similar recourse so that the industry as a whole can grow

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
No trip to LA is complete without a visit to Rodeo Drive. Not only because that’s the location of my office- but this nostalgic street is the backdrop of so many classic Hollywood films. My next favorite area is Venice, as it reminds me of Notting Hill in London. I love the bohemian, artistic vibe of this charming neighborhood. And finally, a place very dear to my heart is Malibu, which I consider to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Not only in terms of landscape but the peace and serenity it offers. Some of my favorite eateries to check out in LA include: Madeo, the Ivy, Mr. Chow, Otium, and Nobu Malibu.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It all starts with Dr. Norman Mills, a dentist I shadowed as a 16 year old- trying to decide what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. The experience was so profound that it confirmed this incredibly important decision for me and I’m so very grateful for the insight provided. After being accepted to King’s College Dental School in London, it was professor Dunne who was the next most important mentor for me. Early in my career, I was fortunate enough to work amongst some of the world’s most skilled dentists- who helped pave the way to open my own practice in Beverly Hills.

Today my success comes from the team I’ve founded who share my vision and work ethic and together we continue to strive for higher standards in facial aesthetic dentistry.
