We had the good fortune of connecting with Samayah Islam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samayah, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define success not by having all the money, cars, houses etc. Yes that is all very exciting to have but I truly believe having success or being successful is when you are truly secure within yourself, staying faithful and humble, and enjoy doing what you do. To me success is internal.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been in corporate America since I was old enough to work and even before starting my own business even while working for other people I always put my best foot forward and work hard and keep an open mind you can learn something new everyday. I started my own company from a negative comment that was made to me while being pregnant with my son that comment gave me the fire I needed to start my brand
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say i’m a homebody haha , I just feel safer in my own home but if I had to pick outside activities I would definitely do brunch something about mimosas just makes everything better , also fun activities like bowling, golf, movies or an arcade type of scenery
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost all praise be to Allah without him nothing is possible I’d also like to dedicate this to my son and his father (my boyfriend), my amazing and supportive family & friends.
