We had the good fortune of connecting with Sammy Gedikian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sammy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was the most important and correct decision I have made in my life, and I’m so happy with my decision because it changed my entire financial life, my work life, and, without a doubt, my family’s life.
Not everyone can start their own business. In my opinion, to start your new business, you have to be 100% confident in yourself and believe in your ability to achieve things you’ve never done before. I always tell myself and my kids never to say “impossible” because nothing is impossible. The hardest things can always be accomplished if you always believe in yourself. And remember, God will never let you down.

What should our readers know about your business?
About my life, I came from the Middle East with nothing, just like many others. Yet, I achieved so much more than others who have lived in the United States for over 30 years. I’m proud of myself. I’m proud of my loyalty to my family.

I started my business from scratch. While working at a printing company, one day, as I was sitting, I thought to myself, “Hopefully, I can start a construction business.” I knew it would be challenging, but I decided to speak with one of the printing company’s designers. I asked him, “Please, how much would it cost to design a nice logo for a company named Gedikian Construction Inc? I want the services to include painting, flooring, and remodeling.” He said he would charge $50. I told him I would pay $100 to design it and then print 50 cards, measuring 5 x 7, for me. From the day I did that, I always kept the postcard in my car, right in front of my eyes, and then I made that dream come true.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love visiting all over LA County. I love Los Angeles, California. I’ll take my customers to Armenian and Middle Eastern restaurants. I love food. I love hanging out with my family. I like going out to Six Flags. I love visiting my great community in the city of Pacific Palisades.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my work journey, the entirety of my life, I want to first thank God. And for sure, I want to thank my family for always being there for me, and my wife. I have achieved a lot because of them.
