We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Scherzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samuel, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I would say that the main thing that held me back from pursuing social media as a career before I started was the fear of judgement. I struggled a lot with the idea that posting daily would turn people off my content rather than inspire or help. What I found was, as long as you genuinely believe in the content you are making and in yourself and your work ethic, other people will believe in it too! You will find the people who share your interests and those that don’t can decide to click off 🙂 For anyone trying to break into the social media world struggling with the same thing, I urge to just try posting consistently for one month, see where that take you, and then you can always decide to change directions or archive your posts after if you find it’s not for you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I came into the creative scene through my love for dance. Moving to Canada from Europe I was struggling to find an outlet for my energy and creativity, so after watching an ungodly amount of Les Twins videos I asked my parents to sign me up for dance classes! From there I moved into acting after signing with my agency in Vancouver and started falling in love with the art instantly. Fashion has been the most recent of my endeavors but has always been a part of my identity… even if it wasn’t always great (I still cringe at my old instagram posts, but keep them up to remind me that we all started somewhere). I would say that none of these career paths were easy, but I have been so fortunate to have always had an incredible circle of support around me through friends, family, and even strangers online! A few highlights in all of these fields include dancing for Justin Bieber, being a part of numerous incredible films and shows such as Descendants 3, JATP, Monster High etc… Acting in shows such as Riverdale and Rise of the Pink Ladies, and growing my social media platforms to where they are now through fashion content! If there was one thing I would want the world to know about me or my brand, It’s that I will always prioritize making content I would enjoy seeing, and that I will always uphold my personal beliefs, such as supporting local artists, small business’, and fighting back against fast fashion and exploitative labour practices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I actually just move to LA myself so my knowledge is limited but there are definitely standout spots I can think of. I would definitely say that Malibu has some of my favorite beaches as well as surf spots, so that would be a must! I would also spend at least one day doing the normal touristy things because I genuinely love them myself, such as the Hollywood sign, the observatory, the walk of fame, etc… As for food, I will be a little biased and say South Beverly Grill or Honor Bar (since that is where I bartend currently) but there are also an insane amount of cute coffee shops and restaurants in every nook of this city so those will have to be explored too! Obviously I also can’t forget about the flea markets and estate sales, especially if they are near Silver Lake, one of my favorite areas of LA. Not only can you find sweet deals and items, you also always end up meeting some of the loveliest people in the city there 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. Not only have they been supportive of all my endeavors from the beginning, they have also offered some of the best input and ideas that really brought me the confidence and drive I needed to continue my work. My mom has been the biggest influence in my life when it comes to fashion, she has this way of making everything she wears look effortless and unique. I think my generation would call it having that special “sauce”. So whenever I create an outfit or a fashion video I always think to myself: “how would mom wear this or talk about this”. My dad has always been my go to guy in terms of everything behind the scenes, whether thats contracts, logistics, or anything that they didn’t explicitly teach us in school. He is the reason I know how to do my taxes, negotiate contracts, and work the legalities of this business, so a big shoutout to him as well. Lastly my sisters, they have always been there to support me and send me incredible input and ideas for videos, I can always rely on them to keep it real with me and give me love as well when I need it! I wouldn’t be half the man I am today if it wasn’t for my family so I am beyond grateful for them.
