We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandrine Rose Abessera and we’ve shared our conversation with her and her team below.

Can you tell us more about Sandrine’s background and the role it’s played in shaping who she is today?
Sandrine is from Paris France. Paris is a very beautiful city full of culture and life. A place like no other. The history, the art, and museums, the buildings, food and fashion – that environment has molded her in to the person she is today coupled with growing up in a very loving and supportive family. With a mother who stayed at home and was always there for her siblings and Sandrine and a father that worked hard as a successful entrepreneur.

Sandrine was provided strength and encouragement to freely express herself in an environment that was full of love and structure. At a young age, Sandrine’s mom recognized what a sensitive child she was and encouraged her to express herself and her feelings through art. She would take her weekly to exhibitions and it was not about learning about the artist but more recognizing how to express herself through color and art.

She also had a love for fashion; in particular street fashion such as jeans and sneakers. American fashion back then was very cool in France. Sandrine later went to fashion school at Esmond.

Given that Sandrine’s dad was entrepreneur, she grew up watching her dad create his own path and clearly witnessing that provided Sandrine with the motivation and excitement to do her own thing as well. When she was still living in Paris at the age of 22, Sandrine created her first brand of tshirts Sandrine wasn’t sure how to do it and her dad was like figure it out. While she was in school, she was learning about fashion but was never taught how to create a brand. She had to find her process to create her tshirt brand. Started a small collection of tshirts. 7 deconstructed tshirts. Sold to stores in Japan. The brand was called Mu and was around for 7 years.

Creation should be affordable for all. She never wanted a product that people could not afford. It’s luxury casual t-shirts.

Parents were very strict with an emphaisis on family, but they totally nurtured SAndrine and her dreams. All her siblings now work for themselves. She was brought up in a very loving environment, not from an artistic background – yet her parents allowed Sandrine to find that space that has allowed her to make a name for herself and the fashion/ art world.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Luxury, effortless silohettes. I am inspired takes cues from the many mediums such as photography and art.

I work with different mediums. photos to paintings and its the base of inspiration for creating my collections which is vintage inspired.

What sets us apart from others – is in my opinion, the french touch. there is a lot of la brands, but the. french background in me adds a the little more sophistication from Paris.

My line is a very detailed product with amazing quality and the price point is very affordable. We are keeping it affordable without compromising the quality of goods.

I got to where I am today because of a strong vision. When you are passionate about what you are doing, it makes things a lot easier.

Lessons learned along the way… It’s not about the bad news at the moment, its about the big picture and staying focused and the end goal. Not to be hurt by the small news. Wherever life takes you, is so much more beautiful. Always keep the big vision in mind.

I want the world to know I really think for the people that know about SR – it becomes a part of them. Like a best friend. It has your back. Its a brand that is made from pieces that will always make you feel confident. Something in the creation of the garment. Garment brings you a sense of strength.

It’s the small details that make you feel good.

A big shoutout to Ashwin Srisailam, co-founder of Ahhaa. Ashwin provides a beautiful space and platform for Sandrine to master the art of creating her vision and supporting her growth. She also wants to acknowledge her dear friend Lubov Azria who introduced her to Ahhaa but is one of her biggest supporters and mentors as well as her late husband Max Azria, who she calls family.
