Meet Sara Davis | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
If you asked five year old Sara what she wanted to be when she got older the answer would’ve been an actress. Again, if you asked 8 year old Sara the same question, the answer would have stayed the same. It doesn’t matter the age, my answer would never change. For me, there was never another option out there. Getting to dive into characters, learn new ways of thinking, discovering new things about myself through other characters, has always been my passion. Having the ability to work with all different people and express myself through acting has and will always be what brings me so much joy in life.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m an actress currently living in California after moving here from Michigan. Being an actress in this state is nothing new. I’m 1 of millions chasing down this dream. I’ve had so many doors shut on me and people who ask me what my actual career will be. People that I’m even close to that believe this is only a hobby, something I can never make a career. Something I’m most proud of is my determination. I won’t let other people stop me from doing what I was born to do. It’s never fun being told that I’m not right for the part, or they went a different direction, but I try and see those as positives. Those parts weren’t right for me and it’s on to the next! When I’m on set filming anything I’m constantly reminded why I choose this career and face so much rejection. Because when I’m on set, I’m my element, there’s no where else I would rather be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As someone who moved to California from a small town in Michigan, there are so many fun and exciting things to do. I would for sure start the day by taking them to my favorite coffee shop, Rekindle, in OC. Depending on what time of year it is, you can never go wrong with the OC fair. I look forward to it every year. Also for a book lover like myself, I love The Last Bookstore in LA. You never know what you might find in there and the place is stunning. While in LA you can’t go wrong with doing the tourist stuff like the walk of fame. It doesn’t matter that I live here, I still love looking at all the shops with cheesy tourist knick knacks. As far as amusement parks, I love them all. You could go to Disney, Universal, or Sea World and I would have a blast at all of them. At the end of the day I love to wind down with a relaxing bonfire on the beach. You have s’mores and peanuts and get to talk about all the incredible things you’ve done that day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was around 16 I auditioned for a play at a local theater. The director, Rodney, was an incredible man that I met preciously while performing in a different show. At the end of that show, he approached me and asked to audition for his upcoming play. I told him without a doubt, I’ll be there. I ended up getting my times mixed up and showing up an hour after auditions were over. I ran into the audition room and Rodney came to me and said “Thank goodness you’re here, I don’t know how much longer I could have convinced them to stay.” He was referring to the two other casting directors in the room. Rodney convinced these guys to wait for me to show up and audition even though I was an hour late because he believed in me. That was the first time in my life I truly had someone believe in my talent so much so that he stalled these guys until I was able to make it. Rodney is someone I will never forget and could never thank enough.
