We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor of success in my personal life and in my business is to maintain quality and lead with integrity. There are many jewelry businesses competing for success, I think one of the major reasons why my clients return is because I stand behind my products and make a huge effort in making sure they are happy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a representation of my relationship to myself. If it was easy I probably wouldn’t have lasted this long.
Like anything you take pride in building, it comes with all different types of challenges. You grow, learn and adapt. It’s the only way to keep moving forward.
SJH Jewelry has many different branches of art included, I have realized along the way that I am extremely creative and do not want to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. I allow myself to branch into new creative endeavours to maintain my energy and enthusiasm. We hold this energy and enthusiasm by making quality our main focus.
SJH’s brand’s philosophy is whatever you choose we hope it makes you feel just as beautiful on the inside as it does on the outside. The better you feel, the more you shine.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Halifax I would take them to my favourite beaches, such as Carter’s beach. I would take them on hikes and trails and probably a good long bike ride into nature. My favourite spots to eat are The Ostrich Club, Kajohn Thai and Amano Restaurante. They have great food, laid back atmospheres and good people working there. For a day trip I would go to Lunenburg which is a small town about an hour and 15 min outside of the city. The houses and shops are really pretty and the hiking trails are stunning.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think hard work and dedication is how success is achieved. I don’t attribute any one thing or A person. It’s a compilation of generous people with their time and energy helping me along my path. It is my dedication to working on myself and believing in myself through the ups and downs. It’s working on having a sense of self and self love that can push you through massive hurdles in both business and personal relationships.
