We had the good fortune of connecting with Savanna Gibson/Sdollasign and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savanna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well, I really didn’t know I wanted to….it took a special friend of mine to actually encourage me to notice the voice I had and how far I could go with it. I then knew the lives I could impact, and it made me excited.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created a brand called “$ign.” It’s currently clothes at the moment but of course as a brand I want it to expand in the near future. I started this brand to be able to create something useful for others. I have always been interested in making clothes as a young girl, I think a lot of us at least once got all geeked over sewing a piece of clothing lol. It’s more than just clothes and brands though, it’s about inspiring people to follow their dreams regardless of the hurdles and brick walls. It gets hard…very hard, especially when you’re juggling the basics of life, while maintaining a business. Positive words, positive energy, positive people all help you get over those hurdles, being able to eliminate the ugly always helps. I take it day by day, I don’t worry about tomorrow until I’m in tomorrow. And I don’t worry about yesterday because that’s old news right? Patience is key, and you’ll need loads of it. I’m still learning, everyday I learn something new. Be open to ideas and always be a listener before a speaker.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, I’ve never been asked this question before lol. Well, I eat almost everything. From burgers, to Mexican food & Asian. There’s this really good burger spot 2 minutes away from my grandparents house, serves burgers and Mexican food. It’s called Cliff’s. My favorite to snatch is the baby burrito, oh it gets bigger but I can’t eat all of that. My grandpa used to do plumbing for his business back in the day so I can say he’s a family friend. Then on the other side of Wilmington, you got Matt’s Fish Market. I always get the red snapper lunch special lol. Bow Wow pulled up one year and copped some fish from there, it was pretty dope. Taco Mell has some fire burritos as well as trapkitchenLA with the bar b que. it’s soo many to name but those are my favorite out here in Los Angeles. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ahhhh man…. it’s soo many great people who inspire me daily and push me to go harder! but of course Travis Fountain @itsmetravistf (manager) he’s the “special friend” who helped encourage me to be a professional singer. His words are always positive and uplifting. Being a creative gets stressful. So, being able to count on him to understand, redirect myself doubt, and create strategies to develop me as a person as well as my career is dope. I also want to give a special shout-out to my friend & professional photographer Danielle Levitt. My soulllll sista, my universe mother, my peace, she is everything. From features in vogue, to HERO mag feature. Her soul is pure, attitude spicy just like me lol. She has granted me soo many amazing opportunities since meeting her, I’m soo grateful. Working together, we’re unstoppable.
