Meet Scooter C. Draughn | Faith-based Entrepreneur and Creative. Founder of Honored 2 Help

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scooter C. Draughn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scooter C., what role has risk played in your life or career?
I mean, everything we do comes with some level of risk. It mind sound cliche´, but, “the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.” I think it’s imperative to take risks in life. I am definitely a risk taker. I’ve built an entire organization on pure faith that has helped tens of thousands of families in my community. I am a man of faith, and believe there’s a big difference when you take risks with your faith in God, vs. just making impulsive decisions as a blind risk taker.
I make sure I pray to get my guidance from God before I take a risk, or make any move. In my earlier years I was more impulsive and not as faith-driven. I’d just think about the possible rewards in any given situation, and that would lead me to learn many lessons the hard way.
Now, I have a very valued support system of mentors whom I share similar values and morals with. And to be completely honest, even when I made certain decisions that weren’t as thought out as they should have been, I gained understanding of what I could’ve done better, and that actually sharpened me for my future. I still see the results from those decisions as blessings. They didn’t kill me, so they only made me stronger. I know a lot about a lot of stuff, and that comes from being brave enough to take so many risks in life. I would definitely consider myself a risk taker– just a bit more wiser about the risks I take.
I can’t say it enough… I really allow my faith to guide the decisions I make, and the risks I take. This has propelled me forward not only in my career, but in every aspect of my life. I give God all the glory for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My pain has been the fuel for my art. A lot of what I create—whether it’s music, writing, content, or the work I do in the community—comes from real experiences, real struggles, and real growth. Life hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve faced my share of challenges, setbacks, and moments where I had to really figure out who I was and what I was meant to do. But with my faith in God I was able to turn my pain into a paintbrush and create meaningful art from it.
For me, art isn’t just about creativity—it’s about expression, healing, and connection. What I appreciate the most is the fact that the things I create come from an authentic place. Whether someone hears a song, reads something I wrote, or connects with a message I share, my goal has always been to inspire and motivate—for people to feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that their story still matters.
My journey definitely wasn’t easy or traditional. I didn’t follow a straight line or a blueprint. A lot of it was faith, perseverance, and learning through experience. I’ve had to overcome many heart breaking situations, serious financial and mental health struggles, and so many moments where things just didn’t go the way I thought they would. But every challenge ended up shaping the perspective I bring to my work today.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that your story—especially the difficult parts—can become one of your greatest gifts if you allow it to. The things we go through can either break us or build something meaningful through us. We have to be reminded that we’re always becoming, and nothing is over if we’re still here to keep going.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I do is rooted in authenticity, faith, and the desire to make a real impact. I’m not interested in creating just for the sake of attention—I want the things I put out into the world to uplift people, inspire them to keep going, and hopefully encourage them to lean into their own God-given gifts.
At the end of the day, my art is really just my life translated into different forms of expression. And if my journey can help someone else find strength, hope, or direction in their own, then it’s all worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not an LA resident, but I’ve spent time in the area over the years through a relative who has been rooted in the Inglewood community for decades doing incredible work with youth through his nonprofit, “I’m A Movement Not A Monument.” I’ve even had the opportunity to work alongside him in the community he serves, which has given me a deeper perspective on the culture and heart of that area beyond just the typical tourist experience.
If my best friend came out for a week, we’d probably start by spending some time around Inglewood and connecting with the local community there. Knowing myself, we’d likely find a way to do some type of community work while we’re there too. I’ve always had a servant heart, so any chance to give back and be of service is something I’m genuinely grateful for. And while we’re in the area, we’d definitely have to stop by Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles because that’s a must for me every time I’m in the city.
Yeah… I’m a BIG foodie, so food spots would definitely be a big part of the trip too. LA has such a dope mix of cultures, so I’d want to hit up a variety of local food spots that reflect that diversity. Some of the best moments when visiting a city always happen around good food and good conversation.
I’d want to hit some of the classic LA experiences—walking around Venice Beach, taking in the creativity and street culture, and enjoying the atmosphere near the water. We both love people, so being able to mingle with the people is a must. I’d also mix in some scenic moments, like checking out the views around Griffith Observatory or taking a long drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, soaking in the ocean views and the beautiful landscapes that make California so special.
For me, the best part of any city is the people and the culture. So the goal of the week wouldn’t just be to check off famous places—it would be to really experience the spirit of the city and connect with the creativity and community that make Los Angeles special. I think my best friend would enjoy LA from that perspective as well. It would be more memorable, and less typical.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to give my biggest shoutout to God. My life and everything I do—whether it’s community work, creating content, writing, or music—comes from my faith and the belief that we’re all given gifts to use for something bigger than ourselves.
As a reflection of that, I’m incredibly grateful for the people who believed in me and encouraged me to step into those gifts. My family and close friends have been huge supporters throughout my journey, especially during the early stages when a lot of the ideas I had were just visions and faith. I couldn’t possibly name them all right now, but I for sure have to mention my mother. She’s been such pure inspiration and strength for my life. With all she’s been through, her resiliency is embedded in me, and is a constant reminder that I can get through anything as long as I don’t quit, and keep my faith in God.
I also want to shout out the community that has supported me over the years. Whether it’s people who follow my content, read my book, listen to my music, or support the initiatives I’m involved in, their encouragement means more than they probably realize.
At the end of the day, none of us truly build anything alone. My journey as an entrepreneur, creative, and community leader has been shaped by a lot of love, support, and people who simply believed in me.
