Meet Sean Kubota | Podcaster, Author, & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Kubota and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by individuals that amidst adversity, struggle, and suffering, have taken ownership of their life and their story, and moved forward in an empowered and radiant way that ripples throughout their life, and touches every person they meet. I am inspired and moved to share these lessons with others, and find core threads of truth that can give us sight when we’ve been blinded by our own victimhood. I am inspired to remind others of their worth, power, and the responsibility that comes with that. I am inspired by our youth, and the potential to foster their growth without dumping the baggage of our past onto them. Instead, having them grow up with knowledge and skills that we can learn from and be corrected by. Things like ownership, empowerment, worth, and conflict resolution. I am inspired by the hope of a better world, and a truer standard for the incredible beings that we are as Humans.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Magnanimous Collective is a podcast, publishing company, and community hub for empowered individuals who are seeking like minded connection. The definition of Magnanimous is to be forgiving and generous in the face of a rival or an enemy. In order to come to the genuine decision to be forgiving and generous to a rival or foe, you must be willing to forgive, to accept ownership of. your part in your story and journey, to turn the other cheek and be vulnerable, and to trust and have faith in the goodness of others. In other words, it takes a “big” person to hold these values, and intentionally practice them.
In a world that glorifies victimhood, emotional deregulation, and overall disempowerment, Magnanimous Collective stands strong in its intention to reverse the damage caused by these mental constructs, in reminding others who they are, how powerful they are, and with that, how responsible they must be.
We release podcasts every week, and have a new book coming out this October called “the Reframe.” In it, we discuss these issues at greater length, as well as dive into aligned Standards, Boundaries, and Consequences that can help us hold structure within a shedding and evolving society. The intention of “the Reframe,” is that we need not burn everything to the ground to create effective change, but that through reframing what currently exists through empowerment, redefining of words and meanings, and coming from a space of sovereignty and mutual honor and respect for each other, that we can step towards a new way of being and operating that is much more resonant and truthful to the reality of who and what we are.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles musts are definitely Lake Shrine in the Palisades, Venice Beach Boardwalk on bikes, Huntington Dog Beach, Sawtelle Japantown at night, Mirate in Los Feliz, Ecstatic Dance LA, & of course Wi Spa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shoutout my coach Imari Tuakli, who without his mentorship and accountability, I would have gotten in my own way and not come close to accomplishing what I have thus far. Along with him, I’d like to thank Ed Mylett, who’s phrase, “You are the perfect coach for the person you used to be,” hit me harder than a ton of bricks, and helped me to realize that this fantastical coach that I had been idealizing, that would have had to do exactly what I’ve accomplished and more, was not the truth. Like Mike Tyson and Cus D’Amato, I recognized then that a dynamic team may not have to have any more in common than heart, connection, and a seeing eye to eye with each other. At that moment, out of hundreds of coaches that I knew, I instantly knew who I was meant to work with. Someone who saw me from day one. I may have walked my path to get to where I’m at, but to bring it forward has been a team effort all the way.
In addition, I’d love to thank my partner Wendy, who through indirect or direct reflection, conflict as well as love, I have learned so much wisdom and been able to cultivate towards my work and my books. I am also beyond grateful to my parents and family who have been of undying support through all that I have been through and put them through. I love you all thank you.
